Dry cracked lips TMI!!

Currently 29 weeks and for the past couple of months, Iv noticed my foof has been a bit sore on and off. It's all a bit puffy and swollen down there and I didn't think much of it. Today it has been so sore just walking around so I had a feel in the bath and my lips feel like they have patches of dry cracked skin. I asked dh to have a gander and he says he can't see anything. But I can't definitely feel it there.
I don't have any unusual odor and I'm not itchy at all so I don't think it's thrush. Going to see if I can get into the midwife so she can have a look.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes!!!! The last trimester was AWFUL for me for this exact reason.

Tried natural yoghurt etc but only went away after giving birth. Honestly drove me mad!

You have my deepest sympathies.

Did you ever find out what caused it? I'm assuming lack of circulation isn't helping and Iv read online low estrogen.
It hasn't bothered me too much up till now. It didn't hurt every day and I'm so busy with dd, Iv barely thought about it. Never even thought to mention it to the midwife at my last appointment. But today it's so sore I could cry!! Don't have any natural yoghurt. Might have to try a bit of sudocrem to try and soothe it!

Ah bless you, can you try a gentle bath emollient, like Oilatum for babies?

Ohnoherewego62 · 24/01/2020 20:27

I think someone tried to explain it to me as increased blood flow down there which caused the swelling and the chaffing, dry feeling so to speak!

Agree with trying emollient.

Coconut oil is great! Soothes and helps if there is any itching, it's also antibacterial, anti inflammatory to x

Thanks for the ideas ladies, it's calmed down a bit the last few days but I'm going to try the coconut oil and see if I can keep it at bay!

I had this at the start of my pregnancy and found wet toilet sheets that you can get in a packet really helped and baths with brewed chamomile tea in. I've hear coconut oil is good too xx
