Movements and gut instinct

Hi,
I'm 26 weeks pregnant and today my baby's movements have been minimal.
I ended up at triage last week as drs was shut as I didnt feel much throughout the day and turned out ok.
I had my 25 week drs appointment on monday and she listened to the heartbeat and all was fine.
I just feel his movements have slowed down and become less powerful, I was feeling more powerful movements 3-4 weeks ago.
I feel like I'm going insane with it as I just dont know why it feels less than it did weeks ago.
I know if I go to the drs/midwife she will just listen to the heartbeat, but is this actually telling me everything is ok?
I also know baby is still small and has plenty of room to move around but I feel my bump looks smaller too which I find odd.
When am I supposed to be getting regular movements throughout the day?
My GP and midwife say different things so not sure what's correct!

Call the maternity unit number on your folder!

They will be able to give you advice and will ask you to come in for monitoring if they think you need it

Please don’t put it off. It’s much better to go in a hundred times with no problem than not go in that one time something is wrong.

They will tell me to call my drs and for them to listen as not 28 weeks yet and not out of hours yet. Problem is last time a dr listened I don't feel like he really knew what he was doing.
I would much prefer to see a midwife but mine isnt working today.
When they listen to the heartbeat does it actually confirm everything is fine?

If in doubt call the number on your notes

They shouldn't tell you to go elsewhere - I went in at 23 weeks because I had established some kind of movements routine that suddenly stopped. They couldn't put me on the proper monitors yet but they did listen in with a doppler and take blood pressure and a wee sample and everything was fine. I was never made to feel silly, they were amazing with me.

Some people don't feel regular movements or notice a pattern until quite a few weeks later, but if you are ever worried just call them and go in to be checked out.

And there is no guideline for how many movements and when you'll feel them - your baby should settle in to their own routine (some baby's don't throughout the whole pregnancy!) so it's about recognising your baby's behaviour.

That is strange! They certainly shouldn’t be telling you to go elsewhere.

A strong heartbeat is a good sign but I’m not sure if it means all is well. When I was concerned about reduced movement, baby’s heart rate and movement was monitored for 20 mins, not just a quick listen.....but I was further along than you.

I suppose you could just go to the hospital if you are worried?
