Currently in hospital after being induced at 17.40 yesterday and playing the waiting game!

Anyone else in the same boat?

Will be in the boat next week.

How many weeks are you op? What have they used for the induction?

Wish you best of luck, hope all goes quickly and smoothly for you and baby.

Aimzxo · 26/01/2020 00:09

I was 39 weeks pregnant, they used the propess which worked for me after 30 hours and I had her Friday night, thanks lovely xx

Iv been told its unlikely I'll be offered any assistant or intervention until I'm 40+12... currently 39 weeks and struggling, how I'm expected to go another 3 weeks I'll never know!!

Aimzxo · 26/01/2020 00:19

I know it's so hard the longer you go I struggled to get to 39 weeks!! I was only induced due to 4 episodes of reduced movement

Only thing I will say and obviously every woman's experience is very different (dont want to scare anyone) but the induction process was very traumatic for me personally I wish I could have waited till I was in spontaneous labour so hang in there! Xx

I think what's annoying me more is that they say a date but it isnt a date anything is really worked to.. I'm very much a deadline person so this is out of my comfort zone massively.

Akasia · 26/01/2020 06:15

Awww, congratulations @Aimzxo 💐 hope you and baby are well.

I know that the further you are in the pregnancy the more likely it is for the whole process to work, I will only be 37w and could take a while.

Do you mind me asking why you have found it traumatic? Was it the waiting around?

BlackKittyKat · 26/01/2020 07:23

Congratulations! I'm glad you're baby arrived safely. Enjoy your newborn cuddles

@VDM1420 yes I know what you mean I like to have exact dates, times and when and how things are going to happen, another difficulty in pregnancy as that just doesnt happen especially in hospitals lol

@Akasia thanks lovely yes were doing well and at home :)

We got there Wednesday at 4 and this is my first baby, as soon as we got there was put in a side room opposite a room where a lady was giving birth, screaming very loud (as expected) but that alone made my anxiety high! Had the pessary put in at 17.40 doctor said she was just going to put the pessary in, didnt tell me how she was doing it so i thought she was just putting a pessary up there pretty straight forward, but no she had to pull my cervix down to get it near my babys head which was absolutely excruciating and unexpected so instantly i felt things were being done to me that weren't explained properly, after a very long boring 24 hours in hospital and lots of walking ant moving about it hadn't worked, lovely midwife listened to my anxieties and let me have gas and air whilst she checked me took the propess out and put it back in which was much better she was amazing

Checked me 6 hours later and my cervix was soft enough and open to break my waters

They broke my waters, gave me an epidural after that, put me on hormone drip and I went from 2cm dilated to 10cm dilated quite quickly, even though I had an epidural I felt alot of pain, they said it was pressure pain not actual pain but I was in agony

When it came to pushing I pushed for 90 minutes and it was very strange as I was feeling the pain and the urge to push yet when I was pushing I couldn't feel where I was pushing, I struggled to push her naturally due to their being a bump on my birth canal and I couldn't get her over that bump, so I needed forceps to help get her over that bump which was very painful but once she was over the bump forceps came off and I pushed her out, as soon as she was out it was all so worth it

I think the problem with me is that 1st doctor didnt help the situation
I'm a massive wuss and havent got a great pain threshold and havent got any self belief so already had in my head I wouldn't be able to do it

I was abit naive and thought with an epidural I wouldn't feel one thing and itd be like it is on one born every minute when there so chilled they feel nothing and midwife tells them when to push lol but I'd gone completely out of focus was so focused on thinking and saying that I couldn't do it it almost became true

Please dont let me experience scare you as I have heard lots of amazing quick induction stories, every woman is different!

Why are you being induced if you dont mind me asking?

@blackkittykat thanks lovely xx

Glsd you're home and settling @Aimzxo, how are you finding it?
Thank you for the in depth description of your induction. I did not have a clue that the propess is so invasive, for some reason I imagined something more like a tampon, feel silly now 😄
To be honest, I am the type of person that likes to think the worst and hope for the best, so I am ok with reading about 'not so ideal' scenarios. In my head as long as baby is nice and healthy and I am well, all is good. So fingers crossed it will go well for us :)

I am being induced due to issues with the blood flow in the placenta. Been monitored since 26ish weeks, however baby's been growing fine so they let me get go term (37 weeks) but not any longer as the risks seem to outweight the benefits of baby staying in, in this scenario.
Don't feel that I am ready in any way shape or form and can't be excited just yet, hope this will come once I see that pink little bubba and make sure all it's well and good.

Have you made a choice in regards to feeding as in breast or bottle? Stressing a bit as I would like to give breastfeeding a go but worried milk won't come in for some reason 😣
