Bump measuring small and growth scan at 38 weeks

I'm 38+3 and saw midwives today. Fundal height is measuring small so I've been referred for a growth scan on Friday. Baby has been down and partly engaged for weeks now.

She mentioned it could be because she's different to the person who last did it (which I've heard is common) but I've actually not seen the same midwife more than twice the entire pregnancy and I've been having monthly growth scans since 20 weeks which have until now all measured fine.

I'm not overly worried just curious really. Assuming that if there is reduced growth that they may induce early? Or that they'll be checking that the placenta is working properly?

@WombatStewForTea - I had a growth scan after an awful experience with a community midwife (she plotted my FH wrong on the chart and refused to acknowledge her mistake so after a second opinion at a hospital, I was taken in for monitoring and a growth scan).
They check blood flow to the baby and measure certain parts of them. It’s probably because you’re engaged, but if there was a problem, they would induce you.
Good luck!

I was induced at 37 weeks due to baby being consistently below 10th centile. From waters breaking your baby in arms was just over 2 hours so not all inductions take days. She was 5lb 3oz and perfect.

Thanks. I'm not massively concerned as I've been measuring ok all the way through. When I looked at my chart it looks like they plotted the last growth scan a week early which would explain why the consultant was worried she'd grown too fast last time and why there's such a drop off.

Or it means that if growth has slowed it slowed a good few weeks ago

I was still midwife led until 32 weeks even though I'd had growth scans since 25 weeks but when I first saw the Consultant she completely put me at ease and suggested they wouldn't induce me unless it was really necessary. She even said every woman would love a tiny baby!
However when I went at 37 weeks I saw her SHO and she suggested it immediately even though placenta showed no issues. To be fair I'd had enough and just wanted her out anyway so I always wonder if I had seen the consultant at the second appointment if she wouldn't of chosen to induce.

Thanks @20viona I have to say I've had enough now so if they ordered induction I'd probably take it!!

I had a growth scan 2 weeks ago, all measuring fine, had another one today and baby had a static growth, 39 weeks tomorrow, so they booked an induction for tomorrow as they think the placenta is not working properly anymore

I was induced early because of reduced growth. At first they kept her in because although she'd stopped growing (or was growing very slowly) she was a big enough weight to sustain the full pregnancy. They finally induced at 41 weeks exactly when her growth scan detected weight loss. Was born 41+1 at 7lb 3oz

Good luck @Chocol4te hope all goes well for you.
I'm hoping all goes well with the scan this morning. I've been feeling really unwell since last night so actually quite glad I'm getting to see someone
