Hi to whoever sees this! I'm currently 22+1, due 26th May with #2. Been suffering with SPD for around 8 weeks. Currently on crutches, support belt, codiene and attending physio. Was just wanting to set up a little group of people who are in/have been in similar situations!

My midwife has mentioned induction at 37 weeks, I was wondering if anyone else has been given this advice/this has happened for?

This isn't me anymore but wanted to say the pelvic partnership are amazing and have a closed Facebook group you can join where you can chat to lots of lovely women who are suffering/have suffered. Wish you well Thanks

@Sleepthiefsmum18 thank you! I will take a little look xx

I'm 35+4 and suffering beyond belief. Spoke with the consultant about induction and apparently I need to build up a valid argument why I should be induced. I'm infuriated 🥺

sao81 · 22/01/2020 21:58

@latheritup how do you even put into words how much you've suffered for so long?! You must be so fed up especially being so far gone now. How long have you had the pain for if you don't mind me asking?

@sao81 I have no idea, I have bad days and good days so I have to hope it's a bad day when I go into to argue my side. It started around 26 weeks and now it's really bad. There's some days where I'm able to walk a couple of miles and I'm fine but today I slept in until 11am because I physically was unable to get out of bed!

I can't take codeine as I'm allergic and paracetamol is pointless Sad

sao81 · 22/01/2020 22:25

@latheritup it is exhausting isnt it. I can't even manage the supermarket alone anymore, anything more than around the house and I need my crutches so I can only imagine how it must be for you being 3 months further along! Hopefully the consultant listens to you

@sao81 the best advice I can give is hot baths with Epsom salts and various exercises on the ball. They've been the best natural help for me. I hope they listen too! Fingers crossed

Hi, I’m 33 weeks and have just been signed off work with SPD/PGP. Horrible isn’t it. Even turning over in bed is painful. I can barely walk without it hurting. Not how I planned my pre-baby maternity leave! I second a nice bath with Epsom salts, I’ve found that and a wheat bag warmed in microwave to bring some temporary relief. I also saw an osteopath who specialises in pregnancy on Tuesday and fingers crossed, the pain is feeling marginally better.

sao81 · 23/01/2020 12:26

@latheritup I will try some, thanks!

@lynsinhull i can understand completely how you feel, ive been fighting to stay in work as long as I can as maternity leave is so far away, but some days the pain is just unbearable. What did the osteopath suggest?

OP posts:
Lynsinhull · 23/01/2020 12:33

Osteopath said that my pelvis had come out of place and did some manipulation (better than it sounds- basically stretching me out) that hopefully has put pelvis back into place, though he warned it could misalign again due to the relaxin hormone softening ligaments. Also general advice about keeping knees together when getting in and out of car/bed, not sitting for too long, using heat to manage pain. Hope you find some relief- I guess for me 33 weeks is too early to finish work, so I understand your dilemma having this pain at 22 weeks. My GP said it’s better to get professional help as early as possible so maybe check out physio/osteopath.

sao81 · 23/01/2020 12:45

@lynsinhull thanks. I have my second physio tomorrow, been given crutches and a support belt and some exercises but not really feeling any releif. Seen on the pelvic partnership that I should get hands on treatment as apposed to the latter, so hoping tomorrow is more productive. Struggling with the thought of another 3-4 months feeling this much pain

Had my 2nd (and it seems last) physio. No manipulation, no hands on treatment, just told to continue exercises and if things dont improve i can see a doctor. Im sooo fed up I just feel like another 4 months of this pain is going to have a massive impact on my mental health

I feel everyone's pain! SDP is crap and has made most of my pregnancy pretty miserable.

I've suffered with SDP from 18 weeks and now 32 weeks. I was on crutches / had support belt / codeine. It was agony and I lost all of my independence. Unfortunately, I found the NHS to be pretty useless at helping and they could only refer me to a group physio session - getting to the hospital alone is an ordeal!

Instead I read on Pelvic Partnership that manual therapy is only real way to improve it. I found a local chiropractor who specialises in maternity issues. She found that my pelvis had misaligned and over a course of a month managed to bring it back into line which in turn stopped all of my leg, back and bum muscles from spasming.

I still can't walk very far and a trip around the supermarket on my own is still difficult but at least I'm now not on crutches and can actually get up the stairs!

Highly recommend seeking out a chiropractor / osteopath to help. I think I'd be in a wheelchair by now if I hadn't have gotten it sorted.

sao81 · 24/01/2020 22:08

@sgmp I've found one local to me on the pelvic partnership website that im going to enquire about. How far along were you when you first had manual therapy? And how often would you say you needed it? Trying to think from.a cost point of view

I had it as soon as it got bad so from around 18 weeks. I had two sessions a week for three weeks which pretty much meant I no longer needed to be on crutches. And since to keep it from getting bad again as I've gotten bigger I've had a session once a fortnight. I think it was around £28 per session. But so worth paying it to get some of my freedom back and for not feeling so miserable for rest of pregnancy!
