Pregnancy worries and anxiety

Hello!
My first post, but I go onto Mumsnet daily to read general posts or if I have any queries. I always find an answer here.
Anyway.
I'm pregnant with my third child. All scans have been fine and she's growing just as she should be. However I cannot shake this feeling that something will go wrong. Some days it really consumes me. I was not like this with my other pregnancies. I know how lucky I am and how privileged I am but this feeling just doesn't go away. Do you think it's something I should talk to my midwife about? I'm 22 weeks.
Thank you x

definitely talk to your midwife. I suffered extreme anxiety throughout my pregnancy and didnt get the help I needed. not only did it have a knock on effect after birth but it makes me sad looking back that I didnt enjoy my pregnancy the way I should have. it didnt feel like it at the time but it was over so quickly and I wish I'd taken the time to cherish it a bit more as I have a lovely daughter now. anxiety makes you think and believe things that arent real and make everything so much more heightened. you dont and shouldnt have to muddle through with it. speak up and take the help that your midwife should offer. I would personally contact today - I really regret not pushing more about how much mine was affecting me x

Completely agree with above. I was very anxious but didn't really push it home with my midwife how anxious I really was. I'm now 8 weeks PP and while it wasn't the sole cause I'm being treated for PND and anxiety. After DS was born it really cake to a head, I would stay awake all night waiting for him to stop breathing. I'm not saying things would be the same for you at all but if you get on top of it now it'll make it so much easier down the line.

I suffer with anxiety when not pregnant and my thoughts can be irrational, for example if my mother doesn't answer the phone I think she's died, I know it's completely irrational but I cannot stop it. It is the same with the pregnancy. I will contact the midwife today, thank you, some days it's all I can think about and it makes my mood so low! Xx

OP I was like that and still am to a certain extent although it is much more manageable - anxiety is horrible, it really does begin to ruin your life. mine developed into OCD aswell which was awful so I'm glad you are going to mention to midwife, I hope you dont feel worried about admitting to it because I think that was part of my problem - was scared I would be viewed as unable to cope etc. good luck x
