High anterior placenta

Hi,

I am 19 weeks and just had my 20 week scan on Monday where I was told I have a high anterior placenta. I've felt baby kick/flutter for quite a few weeks now. It's definitely getting stronger now though but I did realise it's mainly only on each side. Could the placenta be blocking more movements? I see a lot of posts talking about concern for baby's movements and I'm worried I might feel reduced movements anyway due to this. I may feel him in bed and sometimes when I'm sitting at my desk at work. Or is it too soon to tell? x

19 weeks is so soon. I think feeling flutters is a great sign. I think when I was at that stage i'd feel him in the evenings when i'd got home from my day and sat down - I wouldnt feel him any other time.

High anterior placenta is just a variation of normal, it's not something to be concerned about.

Some people say it can be harder to feel movements but I never had this issue with my first (also anterior placenta). 19 weeks is still very very early, I didn't feel any movements at that stage in either pregnancy. Feeling flutters already is great.

I felt a 'proper' movement at about 23 weeks but felt bubbles and popping earlier then that. I'm now 37 weeks and obviously feel the baby but sometimes I notice my stomach moving but I cant actually feel it inside my stomach if that makes sense? I feel her sticking out my sides a lot now. This is my first so I dont have anything to compare it too

Hi,

I have an anterior placenta( not high, but quite in the middle).

I'm 26 weeks and feel baby move really well, feeling kicks and other movements. There is a small part of my belly where I can't feel much, but generally I find it's improving. This is my 4th pregnancy and can say thou I started to be sure if movement at about 20 weeks.

I guess you'll learn your baby's pattern. As pp said, it's great you already feel some movements.

You'll learn your baby's movements and reduced foetal movement is a deviation from that. It's individual.

I have had an anterior and a posterior placenta with little marked difference in quality or quantity of movements post 23 weeks. True, kicks to the front were a bit cushioned but rolls, squirms, hiccups, stretching etc are felt all over.
