My bump has popped out overnight. I am uncomfortable in most of my clothes and I feel like "why no one told me" (sorry for the moan :) ).

I dont want to spend money in a new wardrobe, had a look online, even H&M and ASOS seem expensive. Do you know any good second hand shop for maternity? or even better, do you have any tips on how to get comfy in my current wardrobe?

Basically, how did you cope with style for your pregnancy? Thank you!

Generally just normal stretchy leggings and oversized tops/elastic dresses and long cardigans. I also got one maternity coat from Asda George pretty cheap.

Over bump maternity leggings (I hate anything under the bump, they just fall down all day and risk me showing a beautiful builders bum) and various comfy stretchy dresses second hand from eBay. Towards the end of the second trimester i bought things from eBay that were both maternity and nursing to get more wear out of them. I just wear and repeat a lot!

Also try Facebook market place for maternity bundles.

I did find I had to buy new clothes, as I put on the bulk of my weight in first trimester! Otherwise I would have tried to carry on wearing my usual stuff.

This might be a stupid question...but what are you all planning to wear in labour? I don't want to be naked, but I'm also not sure if I need something that will allow for immediate skin to skin contact? I was thinking of a cheap black nightie so that my legs won't be completely uncovered, but I'm not sure if that will allow for immediate skin to skin...also, are those seraphine skin to skin tops worth it and should I just wear that in labour instead?

I know I am overthinking this!

Don’t buy anything expensive for labour!

I bought a massive strappy nighty from maybe Matalan and had intended to wear that as easy skin to skin but in the end, they got me into a delightfully pink hospital gown as I wanted an epidural & they needed easy access to my back! Then, I ended up in theatre so no chance of skin to skin anyway! Although they were really fabulous in theatre & immediately passed me baby & I was allowed some time having a cuddle. Then they took her away for checks & immediately brought her back, so no complaints! Once I was stitched up and sat back up in recovery, the midwife helped me get her under my gown Smile

You lose all dignity in labour, I promise you won’t care about whipping off your T-shirt or whatever you choose to wear for skin to skin 😄 just pick something quite cool as you do get pretty hot!

Thanks @Bol87! Sounds like cheap black nightie is the right way to go then and I'll just slide part of it off for skin to skin access if needed.

Anyone recommend the seraphine skin to skin tops or tunics in general? Seem really pricey, but not sure whether it's worth it.

I’ve just popped too. I also don’t want to spend loads on maternity clothes so I’m buying basics like leggings and vest tops and then some nice kimono jackets and long cardigans in my normal size. They are so floaty and baggy so they fit and come in so many different colours. Best things is I can still wear them post pregnancy. Got some lovely floral kimonos in the boohoo sale and there’s some cheap ones on eBay too.

Facebook have a second hand maternity and nursing group you can buy from. Some items are virtually brand new and don't cost the earth.

Boohoo is cheap if you're looking for something like occasion wear or specific. Other than that I'd just size up at primark. I've been basically living in my primark jumper dresses when I have to go somewhere, and my 2 pairs of maternity leggings (I managed to get a few things through our uniform at work which I can wear out of work also if need be).
You'll probably need a larger coat also, I have lent my sisters which is a couple of sizes bigger than I am usually and it's got room for me to grow into so should last until baby is here 🤞🏻
Really not much point buying much maternity wear when it will only get worn for a short amount of time. I'd defo get some comfy bras though!
