Constant Nausea

I'm 8 weeks with DC2 and since before I even POAS I have spent every day with some degree of nausea! Today I have had to call in sick to work as I was awake most of the night feeling like I was about to be sick, I even had the dribbly excess saliva but not actually throwing up. I'm tired, I'm grumpy, I feel and look like poo but more than anything I feel like a fraud because I'm not actually being sick.
Currently sat in bed feeling sorry for myself trying to force down a glass of water and a couple of biscuits and wondering how I will deal with work tomorrow when I'm back in as they don't know yet!
Has anyone got any hints and tips on how to ease the constant so close to being sick feeling?

I'm 8 weeks and the same, though it sounds like yours is a bit worse than mine! Things that are helping me -
Fennel tea
Peppermint tea
Ginger beer
Ice lollies
Not letting myself get hungry - makes it 10 times worse so lots of small bland snacks
Eat some protein before bed
Eat some crackers first thing before getting up in the morning
I find sniffing grapefruit essential oil can help too

Good luck with work - every day I thank my lucky stars that I WFH, I hope you start to feel better soon

I'm in the same boat.

I'll try some of those remedies, Wilding. Thanks for those! I like the idea of ice lollies, despite the weather.

I found sparkling water helped.

Also chewing gum helped take the taste in my mouth away.

Food was difficult, but I liked fresh bread, boiled potatoes. There were days when I could barely touch any food.

As pp said, ice was good. I couldn't drink water without ice in it. The fact that was really cold water, helped.

I found something sugary first thing (rather than crackers) helped sometimes, and ice lollies and salty carbs were tolerable, but nothing really made it go away until 17ish weeks when it slowly started to ease. It sucks and you have my sympathy!

Thanks for all the advice guys, I've just managed to get a bit more sleep. Woken up still feeling nauseous but much more with it!
When I was pregnant with DD I didn't have any sickness or nausea, lots of cravings though, all sweet things. This time round I'm definitely craving more savoury! Ice lollies are appealing to me right now though and mashed potatoes.

I only had constant nausea with my DS’s for some reason, I was absolutely fine with my DD’s.

Anyway all I could really stomach was bland things such as plain toast, ready salted crisps, chips, cheese paninis and rice crispies. I used to eat five bowls of rice crispies a day sometimes. I sucked on mints all day at work which helped a bit too.

I just remembered, really sour sweets helped me a lot during the day, especially when travelling.

Flatteredbutno · 21/01/2020 14:45

Had terrible nausea and sickness, pepsi max, ginger tea and mints helped.

Thanks for all the comments guys, it's nice to know I'm not alone. I perked up during the day but still didn't manage to stomach much food, felt like a right tit for taking the day off work and now back to feeling like I'm going to vomit at any second! I have given DP a list of things to pick up from the shops on his way home from work to see if any of them help!

I really do feel for you and can totally relate to you on the 'being a fraud'.

Something that did slightly help me was some green clay powder with water. Leave the clay in water overnight and only drinking the water in the morning. Otherwise I am living on lemon and mint water. Ginger never worked for me.

Your GP can make you a prescription too.
