Hi I am 10 days late with lots of symptoms but no BFP yet...

Although this is the first month we’ve tried upon reflection it hasn’t been a great time health wise. Here are all the issues from the last 5 weeks since my missed period on 12th December:

  1. Had a bad case of flu on 20th Dec
  2. Ear infection and ruptured eardrum after flu on 25th Dec
  3. 4 day course of antibiotics of amoxicillin ended 29th Dec
  4. Had 4 bottles of beer 31st Dec
  5. Had 1 beer on 7th Jan
  6. Violently sick with stomach flu 10th January
  7. Lost 6 pounds in weight going from 9st 6lb to 9st
  8. Painted eggshell paint several times in last 2 weeks and breathed in lots of dust 15th Jan
  9. Our boiler set on fire and filled the house with plastic smelling smoke last night (16th Jan)

So it has been an unprecedented month for crazy stuff to happen.

What are your thoughts on this and should I be concerned?

Many thanks for reading

If you're 10 days late but no BFP I very much doubt you're pregnant. When did you ovulate? A lot of these things would surely have been before you even conceived, unless you have extremely long cycles.

With all due respect, you need to chill out a bit. You dont have a BFP yet, and although that doesnt rule out pregnancy, it also could be due to many other things. One being your (assumed) anxiety levels over this and your illnesses throughout the month.

The illnesses are rough, you have my every sympathy. But having 5 beers and breathing in dust? No. Have another beer and kick back a bit.

If you aren’t getting positive tests, I suspect your period is late due to a pretty horrible month of illnesses & stress etc.. these things can really mess up your cycles!

Pregnant or not, none of this is particularly alarming. The human body is remarkably resilient. Either a pregnancy is going to be okay, or it isn’t. Being unwell is unlikely to have an effect, with the exception of sepsis, or certain infectious diseases. Most medicines and chemicals that are considered unsafe would have to be taken in very large quantities to be concerning, and even then there are no guarantees that there would be any adverse outcomes.
