Waters breaking

Question about waters breaking! Feel a bit stupid but need to ask!

I’m 33+5 with baby number 2, and the reason for my question is because with baby number 1 I didn’t even notice my waters had gone (before anyone says ‘you’ll know about it if your waters go!’)

So I’ve been swimming this afternoon, got dressed slowly, went for a wee all fine, walked back to my car and as soon as I sat down water came out, about the amount of wetting myself (it wasn’t wee though).

Too much information I know, but if I have a bath when I get out a few minutes later I sometimes get a trickle of bath water that comes out, but this is within a few minutes of getting out, where as today was a good 20+minutes after getting out the pool,
And after squeezing a wee out!

It’s making me wonder also because I was awake in the night with back ache, lower back but only on left hand side. Felt like stomach ache but in my back.

Feel like I’m being paranoid, but also don’t want to overlook something. I’ve decided to come home and put a pad on - if it was my waters, would I continue to still leak?

Anyone find pregnancy just a constant torment of not knowing if something is wrong or not 🤷‍♀️ I'm sure I wasn't like this last time!!

I would give your maternity unit a call. They can check super quickly and see if it's your waters. You're still early for labour so that's also a reason to get checked.

Sounds like your waters. Keep the pad on and go into your maternity unit to check. Best be on the safer side

It sounds like just pool water as it happens with bath water too, same thing. But it won't hurt to go and ask for a test. They can literally do a swab up there and tell you right then and there if it's waters or not. It takes a few seconds.

If it was my waters, would they continue leaking?

Apparently your body continues producing waters for a decent while, so possible yes.

Get it checked out, I dont think any of the midwives will think you are wasting their time, they will be glad you called.

My waters broke early (32 weeks) with my first pregnancy and it was similar to what you experienced. I didn’t realise that’s what it was the first time it happened (I thought I’d wet myself) but it happened a few times and so I got checked out. They can do a test to see if it is amniotic fluid or something else (urine, just excess discharge).

I didn’t go into labour straight away - a few days after it was confirmed that my waters had broken they then went “properly” with a big gush and I went into labour and the baby arrived later that day.

Put a pad on. If you haven't had a big gush they will continue to leak. Babies head can act as a plug and cause these small ongoing leaks.

Thanks everyone. Haven't had any more come out since it happened yesterday afternoon so don't think it must have been x
