Big bump!

So I was measured by my midwife a couple of weeks ago and she said I was measuring a little big, didn't actually tell me what I was measuring. I think this was to stop me worrying. I went in today for an anti d jab and the midwife looked and sounded really shocked when she saw my bump. It upset me a little bit and I know it shouldn't and that every woman is different etc. I'm 31 weeks and measuring 34cm. Should I be worried? First pregnancy so I'm unsure!

Have you seen the growth chart? And have you been referred for a growth scan?
I had one cos according to tape measure mine had shrunk. Not true at all, everything fine on scan!

Well the midwife explained the growth chart she said its following the curve nicelybut her reaction of oooo your big for 31 weeks scared me I'll be honest lol. I'm seeing my midwife tomorrow. So she might refer me then I guess :/

I measured 34 at 26 weeks pregnant.
At my 12 week scan they thought I was coming in for 20 week scan.
I had a lot of water but otherwise no problems.
My LG came out at 38 weeks because I was very uncomfortable. By then I was measuring over 50, I was huge.

I've been measuring 4cm ahead since 24 weeks I've also had the omg your massive comments and tbh I welcome them because I actually am my bump is huge! But alot can be the reason baby being big or just the amount of fluid / position of baby. Bump measurements are not always correct anyway plus as your midwife said because your following your own curve they won't really have anything to worry about.

Fundal height measurements are quite unreliable. You are meant to be within 2 cm of the number of weeks you are. So 34cm at 31 weeks means you are a little bigger than expected. However, it can vary depending on who is measuring and it is more important that it is following the curve. You might just have a reasonably big baby. Where I live they do not routinely do scans for measuring bigger than expected. I think this is because even the scans are quite unreliable and it can cause more worry than necessary, so don't assume you will be sent for a scan. Have you got any risk factors for gestational diabetes and if so, have you been tested? Otherwise I don't think you should be worried about what you are measuring, especially if the midwife isnt.

I'm 33 weeks and I've had people tell me this week I look like I'm about to pop and have been surprised I am only 33 weeks. The next day someone has said I look small for 33 weeks and they had only just noticed I am pregnant! I think clothing and how the baby is lying that day make a big difference. It's unhelpful for the midwife to be 'shocked' looking at your bump but she might not have meant much by it.

I measured 43 weeks at 34 weeks. Sent for a scan and found I had polyhydramnios. Has this been mentioned? If not, it may just be a big bump, one of those things or big baby.

I had to go in hospital at 36 weeks for bed rest due to the polyhydramnios. My CS brought forward from 38 weeks to 37 weeks because I was just huge. Baby weighed 7lb 4 oz, no cause of polyhydramnious was ever found.
