Hey guys, I'm 30+2
2 days ago I caught flu(not a cold) full on flu, due to being bedbound I haven't had my flu jab yet, I'm due in next week.

Right now I'm struggling to breathe my ribs are killing me, feels like pressure from the inside outwards?

My temperature is 38.4c half hour ago it was 38.1c I took some paracetamol, what else can I do? when should I be getting worried. I feel like I'm just getting hotter. ☹️

Any advice would be very welcome. 💜

I'd give the hospital a call or your midwife see what they suggest with you being pregnant as if you get dehydrated you will need fluids etc.

I would call triage. I had a nasty virus last week and they wanted me to call them again if my temp went above 38 which it did, so I went in for monitoring. If the paracetamol is not lowering your temperature you need medical advice. Hope you feel better soon but do call x

You need to ring maternity assessment. I had flu at 10 weeks pregnant recently. I needed a lot of medication and care in hospital to get better. Not to scare you but the consultant told me I could have died and flu for pregnant women is very dangerous. I needed three bags of fluids, paracetamol IV and tamiflu. They can give tamiflu if caught early enough. I had a lot of fluid on my lungs and they were worried I’d get pneumonia or a serious chest infection. They told me my temp had to stay below 37.5 when I returned home otherwise I needed to go back.

Hope you feel better soon Op!

Have you tested positive for influenza or are you assuming? That’s your first step. Get tested and if positive you need to start on tamiflu. Flu is a big killer in pregnant women as your immune system is so suppressed, it’s why the vaccine is recommended. Call out of hours GP and get the swabs done.
