Can’t feel baby kicking at 23 weeks

Nabila81 · 13/01/2020 19:20

I’m 23.5 weeks and haven’t felt my baby kicking. People including the dr keep asking about it and it’s making me anxious thinking about it. Is anyone in/been in a similar situation?
Thanks

The dr said he could see the baby moving. I could see the heart beating but couldn’t see any other movement. They suggested doing a full scan to check everything over properly.

Hope you get some reassurance tomorrow

Nabila81 · 16/01/2020 12:25

The hospital called and said the earliest they can see me is on Monday. I’m hoping that’s a good sign as surely they would ask for me to come in sooner If they were concerned.

I didn't feel movement until I was about 22 weeks, and not I'm 27 I still don't feel much. My placenta is anterior (at the front of my stomach) so it acts as an extra cushion. May be worth asking if this is also the case? I know it's easy for others to say, but try not to worry! I get anxious and worry about the movements becuase there are so many people who have been feeling kicks for about 10 weeks now.. but just remember every baby is different :):) I hope you gt on well!

Nifflernancy · 16/01/2020 12:40

I’m sure it’s fine but good you’re being checked over Flowers

Nabila81 · 16/01/2020 18:34

Thanks all. I’ve just had some chocolate as the dr said sugar might help get the baby moving. My placenta isn’t anterior so I don’t think this is the reason unfortunately. Part of me wishes that I had pushed for an appointment tmrw as Monday seems like a long time away but hopefully I can try and keep busy. My husband wasn’t too worried which can be both a good and bad thing!

Hope everything is fine on the full scan. Fingers crossed it’s baby’s position and laziness x

Nabila81 · 20/01/2020 20:27

Thanks everyone. I went in for a scan today and the sonographer said the baby looks like it is growing as expected and If I have any more concerns then I should speak to the midwife. I’ve got a midwife appointment next week and I’m hoping by then I will have felt some movement.

That's good news, did you see movement on the scan?

Nabila81 · 20/01/2020 20:41

I didn’t but my husband said he could see the spine moving. I had some chocolate today to try and get the baby moving but that didn’t seem to work unfortunately!

Thanks for updating.
Hope you get some movements soon.

Sparrowlegs248 · 20/01/2020 20:52

Have you tried cold fizzy drinks?

Hopefully it's really nothing to be concerned about, but, I think you should be firm in not being brushed off when you see your midwife. Good luck.

Have you seen any movement on any scans? My 12w scan with my eldest, she slept through the whole thing. And the 20w scan was a wee wriggler! Not until the end though.

But movement wise during the entire pregnancy, very lazy. Was in for reduced movements twice.

My second pregnancy was completely different. Felt movement at 11w and the shapes my belly through were amazing! Constant movement during my scans.

Mol5 · 21/01/2020 17:20

Hey OP, I'm pregnant with my 1st baby and didn't feel any kicks until 24 weeks-ish with anterior placenta (placenta at the front). I was worried and went to get the heartbeat checked about 23 weeks and was told all was fine and to simply wait to feel movement which could apparently be any time up to 28 weeks.

Soubriquet · 21/01/2020 17:23

Do you ever feel fluttering sensations? Almost like butterflies in your stomach?

Nabila81 · 21/01/2020 18:50

I haven’t felt anything so far or at least not that I have noticed. Maybe I need to keep my hand on my belly. My placenta is posterior so my situation is unrelated to the positioning unfortunately. I don’t feel like I have butterflies but I’m hoping this will start to being soon. I have a midwife appointment next week so I will speak to her then. Thanks for all the advice/ details of your experience. It really does help.

Hi All.. I finally felt my baby move yesterday and my husband did too! It felt amazing and I’m starting to feel a bit more relaxed now. Just thought I’d provide an update as you’ve all been v supportive x

Pleased for you, good to know too as I’m only 13 weeks but if I don’t feel them early either at least I won’t go into panic mode. Thanks for updating and pleased all is well

Charmali · 27/01/2020 19:32

I never felt my eldest child kick. Not once. The more the pregnancy went on the more "normal" it was. But I never thought it was right. I went to all of my appointments, booked private scans and attended maternity emergency frequently. Everyone said it was ok. She was born by planned section at 36 weeks due to medical concern about her growth and lack of fluid.
What am I trying to say? Get checked regularly and keep on top of your antenatal team. They honestly don't mind. My midwives and consultant always took my concerns seriously.

Delbelleber · 27/01/2020 19:45

Good nr

Delbelleber · 27/01/2020 19:46
