Vomiting at work

Hey all! I'm seven weeks pregnant and the morning sockness has kicked in. Currently, I'm being ill twice a day, once in the morning when I wake and either in the afternoon or directly after dinner.

If I vomit in the afternoon I'm at work, which is less than ideal. Does anyone have tips for managing morning sickness at work?

I have been allowed to work from home whenever I like but I can't see myself doing that right now as I don't know if I'm going to be ill at work until the afternoon and I can't just work from home constantly just in case.

Thanks!

Congratulations, and poor you!

I suffered and needed to be at work so found a few things that worked for me:

  • using the disabled toilet, so that no one could hear me
  • eating in small amounts, spread out over the day
  • working out which foods made me feel better or worse (I ate very plain carbs mostly for weeks)
  • ginger, usually as tea but sometimes biscuits

Hopefully the sickness will wear off - mine disappeared during the second trimester and I understand that’s very common.
Good luck!

Thank you for the tips! I'll give them a try.

No advice to offer since I'm in the same position as you with bad morning sickness and trying to manage at work, but sending positive thoughts OP Flowers And definitely needing some of these tips too.

I took a toothbrush and mouthwash to work. Smacked in crackers as it massively helps me. Chewing also really helps but only for so long. I’m now on antisickness meds as it got very serve (basically vomiting be everything up and ended up in hospital). If you’re struggling you can also ask you GP for antisickness meds.

Good luck OP... and yes it gets better! I’m nearly 13 weeks and down to vomiting everyone few days.

Adding to PP, I found buying sickness bags from Amazon made me feel better. I was always worried I wouldn’t make it to a toilet in time or would be sick driving home from work as I have a long commute. Also, if you work in an office where people eat at their desks, going for a little break when it’s lunch time will help when your colleagues are eating eggs and tuna etc 🤢 I also kept a pack of rich tea biscuits and mints in my bag for emergencies which made me feel more prepared. I’m now 9 weeks and the sickness is getting less. I vomited at work a few times but nobody was around or had popped out so that worked quite well!

Softmints helped me but also just letting someone know so they can help if you have to quickly run off
