Hi does anyone know is it possible to book appointments with your midwife if it's not one of the scheduled routine ones? so if you have a slight concern that doesnt warrant immediate attention from the hospital midwives. Could do with seeing my midwife but my next routine appointment isnt for 6 or 7 weeks.

I think so! My midwife has always said to call the GP practise she works from with any concerns and they'll pass the message on or to make any more appointments if I feel the need to see her sooner

Absolutely give your gp a call.

Mine said i could, due to a previous miscarriage i am a lot more anxious so she booked me in and extra one and said if i want any more to contact her :)

Thanks just called my gp the receptionist said they aren't allowed to book appointments with the midwife outside of the usual scheduled ones. They have however given me her mobile number so guess I will call her direct see if she can advise me x

You should be able to book in to see your midwife whenever you like. Your allowed extra appointments if your anxious

Nelly325 · 13/01/2020 16:51

Yes. I told my midwife about the anxiety I was having and she allowed me to come in for weekly appointments. It was invaluable and helped me a lot

My midwife runs a clinic every Tuesday at the GP - aside from my routine appts, if I need an extra one I just call the GP and ask if she has space in her next Tuesday clinic.
If she doesn't have space at the GP routine clinics, there would be other locations you can visit community midwives at.

Yup, my community midwife tells me at the end of every appointment to call if I have any worries

Well I tried phoning my midwife on the mobile number I was given her phone has been switched off all day. It's been an absolute joke trying to get ik touch with someone have ended up ringing the hospital again and luckily managed to get a midwife to agree to see me in the epu tomorrow
