Are clear blue weeks indicators accurate or should I be worried?!

I took a clear blue weeks indicator at 4weeks+4 and got 1-2 weeks.

I have taken another this morning at 5weeks+5 and it is still reading 1-2 weeks.

I am worried but should I be? Are they actually accurate or not?

I don’t know how accurate they are for definite but something in my head is telling me that they are 100% accurate.

These tests cause a lot of heartache - they’re not especially accurate as people have different levels of HCG and a one size fits all such as these tests doesn’t really work.

It also depends how dilute your urine was when you took the test.

1-2 weeks at 5+5 isn’t ideal, it could perhaps indicate HCG not increasing, but I don’t think it necessarily means bad news. It could be dilute urine, or perhaps your dates are a little out?

I would be worried too but sadly there is nothing to do but wait and see and hope for the best. Good luck Flowers

They aren't accurate at all. Certainly not anywhere close to 100%.

Basically, they're a gimmick. The test is trying to track the increase in HCG, but since the normal range of HCG in pregnant women can vary by a huge amount, they have to use a very broad range. And that's leaving aside the fact that the method they're using to track it - a urine test - is much better suited to giving qualitative (yes/no) answers than it is to giving quantitative (how much) answers, because of things like your urine varying in strength depending on how much you've had to drink.

If you're really worried, you could ask your GP whether they'd be willing to do blood tests for you to confirm your HCG levels more accurately. They may not feel this is immediately necessary, though. Best of luck.

Some never even get 3+ on them and go on to have healthy pregnancys. Unless you know when you deffinately conceived etc then you may not be 5+5 but in answer to your question they don't really seem that reliable with many many women reporting that it doesn't go up when it should etc

cultkid · 13/01/2020 07:49

Because technically it's between 5-6 weeks pregnant like you are

These tests induce so much anxiety

theremustbeaomethinginthewater · 13/01/2020 07:51

At 4 weeks mine said 5+ weeks pregnant, and then at 5 and 6 weeks it said 1-2 weeks pregnant.

I'm now 30 weeks pregnant, was was worried at the start like you- no they're not accurate!

gamerchick · 13/01/2020 07:52

They're not accurate, they're supposed to be a bit of fun that daft people will spend a lot of money on. A gimmick. I wish they were banned.

Stop testing OP.

neverornow · 13/01/2020 08:02

Agree with above poster, I believe that they are a bit of a gimmick and should be banned. Mine were not accurate either (my pregnancies were viable/progressed ok)

If you are really concerned, see if you can have your bloods done to check your levels.

Morgan12 · 13/01/2020 08:09

When I was pregnant I got all sorts of different readings with those tests. Didn't mean anything. I'd not worry and stop testing (I know it's hard 😂).

I'm in the same situation Essjayccee. Can I ask how everything went please x
