Hi everyone,

I am looking for some advice on early pregnancy symptoms and also ClearBlue weeks indicator tests!

I 'think' I am around 5 weeks pregnant, going by last period (2nd December 19). I had taken a clearblue test on the 3rd Jan and that come back pregnant 2-3 weeks (so around 4-5 weeks I think?) however I've been experiencing very sore 'period like pains' especially through the night which wake me up. They come and go and when they do come they are very very sore like intense period cramps. I phoned the Maternity Unit at my local hospital and they said to take paracetamol and try not to worry since there is no blood.

However I am worried, I don't know what I'm supposed to be feeling this early on and the thoughts of eptopic pregnancy and miscarriage have gone through my head Sad this lead me to take another clearblue test and it come back 2-3 weeks again!

I'm so confused, I thought it would be showing 3+ by now and I'm reading so many scare stories I'm driving myself insane here! This is already extremely hard since I'm doing this alone as my partner 'isn't ready' as discussed in another thread.

Please ladies any help would be much appreciated!

x

Hi Cheesey21

Thank you so much for your reply! This is very very reassuring! I am continuing to take paracetamol which is dulling them so I can put them to the back of my mind, which is good. Don't get any further forward worrying I suppose! Congrats on your little wriggler Halo

Oh bless you - it's such a worrying time isn't it? Everyone is different and symptoms can vary from person to person but I remember having those painful cramps - felt like my insides were going to fall out Confused. I had 'morning' sickness every evening. I knew when I ate my dinner I would see it again in a couple of hours Sad and then the heartburn kicked in - oh the joys of pregnancy!
Wishing you well and as hard as it is try not to worry too much Flowers

*Not 'other half' obviously - it's never typed that before!

littlemac2 · 10/01/2020 19:06

Thank you everyone above who have also replied! I am reading these comments feeling LOADS more at ease with everything I am feeling.

I will stay strong, continue to take paracetamol and just try and relax about everything! does anyone have any more suggestions on why my clearblue test is still reading 2-3 weeks? or should I not get too hung up on this?

I had this in my first pregnancy. The pain was nothing I’d ever had before. Same response as you - paracetemol and get on with it which I did. I now have a healthy 7 year old xx

goingtoneedabiggercar · 10/01/2020 20:24

@littlemac2 hormone levels vary from person to person and clear blue have a number that they've set to say 3+ weeks. Not everyone will hit that number at the same time so I wouldn't worry about having not reached it yet.

fonxey · 10/01/2020 20:27

Throw that cb test away. The amount of anxiety I've seen caused by this this on this board is depressing. It's just a stick, not a proper lab test. It's not accurate. All you need to know is that you are pregnant. Date from your least period but you'll not get a more accurate date until your 12 week scan.

HarryHarry · 10/01/2020 20:38

I had lots of early pregnancy symptoms that came and then went again in the first few weeks, including cramping and bleeding. I was super anxious! Everything turned out fine though! (OK, the birth went completely wrong but that was not related to anything and hasn’t had any lasting effects!)

You’ve probably heard this before but you’re going to be worrying about EVERYTHING from now until the birth... and then from the birth till your baby leaves home... and beyond! I find that as soon as I stop worrying about one thing, a new worry presents itself. Eg. Why isn’t he crawling yet? OK, he’s started crawling now - but should he be doing it like that? Is that normal? What if he never crawls properly? Will his walking be delayed? etc etc. I suppose it’s just the nature of being a mum, especially a first timer! (I have a 3 month old girl now and I’m so much more relaxed with her!)

Best of luck with everything!

mum29919 · 10/01/2020 20:43

I had cramping in my early pregnancy, no sickness, no sore boobs. I didn't feel pregnant at all and was so worried there would be nothing there at my 12 weeks scan. But there was and I now have a lovely 3 month old baby boy :-) if you're so worried though you can pay to have a private scan, my sister in law did as she had a couple of miscarriages previously and she found it very reassuring. I'm sure everything will be fine though, congratulations! x

mum29919 · 10/01/2020 20:45

And those pregnancy tests aren't very accurate, mine said I was five weeks, from the date of my last period I was 7 weeks and from my twelve scan I had a different due date so don't worry about that, as long as it's still saying positive! x

HarryHarry · 10/01/2020 20:48

If you’re really worried you can ask for some blood test to see if the pregnancy hormone in your body is increasing at the expected rate. (I think it’s supposed to double every 2 days or something?

Chichz · 10/01/2020 20:50

Hi OP,

I feel very much like you, despite having wanted a baby for a very long time and being in my thirties - I keep having to remind myself that girls half my age do this! Grin

I actually managed to wangle an NHS early scan yesterday and was so emotional to see a little heartbeat. However, as PP have said, that isn't necessarily as reassuring as you'd think, given how quickly things can change.

I am trying just to let my body do its thing and allow myself to be excited. It probably doesn't help that you have had a tricky time recently.

Thanks for starting the post, as the replies have been really helpful. Best of luck! xx

Sallyjo27 · 10/01/2020 22:20

Hi OP I get exactly the same and I’m around 5 weeks. My pains are much worse than when I’m on my period to the point where I’m on my knees, and then suddenly they disappear. I’ve been to my gp and was told the same, settling in pains and to take paracetamol. Hopefully they’ll stop soon 🤞🏽

ec1993 · 11/01/2020 00:11

Please don't do anymore CB digitals!

I went from 1-2 to 2-3 then back to 1-2 and I had a scan today at roughly 7 weeks, healthy baby and heartbeat so far!

It's a horrible uncertain time, I do not know how anyone relaxes or enjoys early pregnancy!

Congratulations, wishing you lots of luck xx

littlemac2 · 12/01/2020 19:04

I love reading these replies on my post, you guys are all so encouraging and supportive! So glad I started this thread!

So I couldn't help myself and I done another CB test .. I am now reading 3+ which makes me feel so much more relieved! cramps are still coming and going, sometimes just dull other times very strong, but trying not to stress over them.

In terms of my partner, well we are no longer together. He has made his views clear and he isn't standing by me through this. I am so glad I have my sister supporting me every step of the way!

Anyway, I have my first midwife app this Friday! I can't wait to ask lots of questions, then next stop is the 12 week scan, fingers and toes crossed for this! I really want an early scan but I'm going to just stay calm and focus on each day as it comes.

How is everyone else getting on? Smile x

Hey!

Just thought I’d pop on this thread and say please try not to worry. I had a miscarriage in October last year, that was the first ever time I got pregnant. I had severe back pain and only got cramps when I woke up during the night bleeding.

As of October this year I am pregnant again (it took a year to happen and I cried every month when my period came thinking I could never get pregnant again) I really do believe everything happens for a reason, especially since it was exactly a year apart I became pregnant again. It’s the hardest thing ever going through a loss, it’s also the hardest thing ever trying not to worry in pregnancy (trust me I’ve been a mess!) but as I’m now almost 12 weeks I’ve realised that my time last year was clearly not meant to be, i obviously wasn’t meant to have a baby then. And a year later when I’m engaged, in a much better place and no longer living with parents I’ve conceived again! I promise everything works out in the end, as hard as it is not to worry, it doesn’t do anything at all.

I had the exact same cramping as you’re describing and thought I maybe had a false positive... until 8+5 weeks hit and I’ve not stopped vomiting since then!!! I still get cramps now and again even at 12 weeks.

Good luck with your journey!
