Baby is constantly moving

I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant, and the baby never stops moving. It is always wriggling around and never seems to stop. I've heard that movements reduce near the end of pregnancy, but I am doubting that based on how much mine is moving.

It may depend on what you've eaten? My baby was doing the can-can when I'd had broccoli.

LiveFatsDieYoGnu · 09/01/2020 17:35

I know what you mean! I'm nearly 35 weeks and my belly is like a bag of octopuses! My midwife said that movements reducing towards the end is a myth - they may change in nature (more rolls and pushing sensations, fewer kicks) but should not reduce in frequency.

kitchenband · 09/01/2020 17:41

@IScreamForIceCreams I recently had some sweets, and there were even more movements than normal.

Is this new or has the baby always been this active?

kitchenband · 09/01/2020 17:52

The baby has always been quite active, but the movement has definitely increased in the last week.

I had one like this, she still can't sit still and be quiet at 16.
The other two weren't anywhere near as bad, they were boys though.
Not saying there should be a difference though Grin

Have you got a ME appointment soon?

My baby is the same! Midwife has warned that it's a sign of wats to come. Active inside, active outside!

CupCupGoose · 09/01/2020 18:35

I was considering posting the same thing recently. Mine just never stops! It's my third pregnancy but the other two were never this active. Even when he's not actually kicking, I can feel him rolling around.

Roomba · 09/01/2020 18:39

DS1 was like this, he never stopped! The movements just got bigger and more uncomfortable towards the end. He was a very chilled baby and good sleeper after he was born though. Barely felt DS2 move due to anterior placenta, and he was the hyper, non sleeping live wire!

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 09/01/2020 18:41

DD was very active when I was pregnant, she never stopped moving. She's just as wriggly now at 1 month old!

DesLynamsMoustache · 09/01/2020 18:43

My DD was a very active baby in utero. But she's very chilled and easygoing baby now she's here! The good thing with very active babies is that it's easy to detect reduced movements. We had one episode where she hadn't moved in about four hours which was incredibly unusual, but because she was so active we were able to pinpoint it immediately and go in. Thankfully she was fine, she'd just got into a weird position and the midwife palpating my belly managed to dislodge her and she was back to normal.

Also movements shouldn't reduce in frequency towards the end at all. It's very important you know this. Any reduction in movements should be investigated right away, whether it's 30 weeks or 42 weeks.

stilldoesntknowwhatshappening · 09/01/2020 18:51

I would just be cautious. Any change on movements should be mentioned or monitored. This includes a sudden increase.

Casander · 09/01/2020 18:56

DD was like this, she's now 8 weeks and didn't sleep for the first 5 weeksConfused she sleeps through now thank god but she's still really active through the day!

May2020 · 09/01/2020 18:57

No, movements shouldn't reduce as you near the end of your pregnancy

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 09/01/2020 19:15

Im 30 weeks now, some days he's really active and some he's not. It makes it really difficult to notice reduced movements during his lazy days. I put it down to different positions he's put himself in.

annlee3817 · 09/01/2020 20:26

Would recommend following kicks count on Facebook for all info regarding movements in pregnancy, babies should stillove as much as others have said. They've got some cool videos on their page showing bumps moving at the end just as much as they would earlier on. Mine was a total fidget bum too, strangely never at night though :)

Bol87 · 09/01/2020 21:39

Mine is just like this. Complete contrast to my first. My first was very quiet, I had to have extra scans & monitoring as she was just so lazy! But she didn’t half make up for it on the outside! She was the wriggliest baby, even in her sleep she moved around constantly! She still is super active as a toddler..

Second DD has not stopped wriggling in the womb since 17 weeks. Kicks, flicks, rolls, spins all day long. It’s getting quite painful now we are 30 weeks.. I’m somewhat dreading the next 10! And also quite nervous if my first was quiet in the womb but really active on the outside, what on Earth is this one going to be like?! 😰😂

stophuggingme · 09/01/2020 21:46

A marked increase inn movement can be fetal distress

Get checked ASAP

stophuggingme · 09/01/2020 21:46

In not inn

Adviceplease1234 · 09/01/2020 22:04

Movements do not reduce towards the end, they just change as previous posters have said.

If it’s an increase I’d call for advice but if it’s normal for you, enjoy it! I really missed my bump and the movement after I gave birth. It’s uncomfortable at times I know but also amazing : )
