Right here goes. I realise no one here is a trained medical professional (well you could be) but I'm just looking for some advice, as I've rung my GP and they're just shite if I'm honest (always are pregnant or not).

So I'm 13.5 weeks pregnant. Have suffered a lot with nausea which has started to subside. My dads a diabetic and I did prick test on Sunday and my blood sugars were 4.4 this was after having eaten a brioche roll and a pint of squash about an hour before. And plenty more food about 2 hours before that.

Drs said they only care if it's high. Which is fair enough. Told me to eat more sugar basically - which I'm very conscious of as I dont want to get GD.

So yesterday I ate what I feel like is a substantial amount. I had cereal in the am, then second breakfast was pancakes, then I had a sausage roll, and some jelly, then I had jacket potatoe and beans, then cheese on toast. Plus two glucose tablets, two ice pops, a tea with sugar and squash throughout the day.

I still felt like shit. Not nauseous but spacey.

I feel the same today, again I'm ensuring I'm eating plenty.

So my question is...
1 - has anyone else had this if so what helped/did you do
2 - if not what does everything think I should do? • hassle my drs for an appointment etc (I did speak to the community midwife but they said to ring drs)

** I'm aware pregnancy isn't all daisy, I'm just sick to death of feeling like shit. I realise this could be my life for the next 6 months.

Blood sugar sounds normal? Could be low blood pressure which is common in pregnancy. A salty snack is supposed to help

GingerRH · 09/01/2020 14:05

@Delbelleber Dr did say it was the lower side of normal considering I'd eaten to close to doing it.

I'll try and pop into GP on way home and do my blood pressure. Either way, eating definitely doesn't make a difference 🤷🏼‍♀️

You can get into a situation of widely fluctuating blood sugar in which your body over-reacts to what you eat & so releases a bit too much insulin. This means that the blood sugar drops a bit too rapidly & can make you feel like s**t! I would suggest that you approach your food choices in the opposite way, by reducing the simple sugars etc. By focussing in complex carbohydrates and having regular small amounts you will help to stabilise your blood sugar.
You are probably also someone who is sensitive to the feelings created by the very different hormone levels of early pregnancy.
I am a midwife & have lots of experience with diabetes and related issues in complex pregnancies. PM me if you want to
