Bedside cribs or Moses basket? Or both?

Hi,

Just looking at bedside cribs and moses baskets, what are other people planning on using? Do I need a bedside cribs for our bed and a Moses basket for downstairs? Or do I just use the moses basket for both? x

Me personally I'm getting both saves the hassle of trying to lift Moses baby and all stuff up and down

OccasionalNachos · 08/01/2020 19:59

Bedside crib so there’s less lifting & stretching at night. The baby box (I’m in Scotland) will be used downstairs.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 08/01/2020 20:01

Both -cribs are adorable but Moses baskets easy to transport.

Willow4987 · 08/01/2020 20:03

Bedside crib for upstairs definitely!!!

I’m using a Moses basket and sleepyhead for downstairs

shutupsteph · 08/01/2020 20:22

I've got both simply because the moses baskets were so cheap in ALDI. The moses basket will stay downstairs and we've got a secondhand Snuzpod bedside crib for our bedroom

I usually use the carrycot from pushchair for downstairs. I don’t like having too many ‘things’ if you get me!
This is what I did for last 2 DDs and will do for this one.

Bedside cribs weren’t really a thing back then! But will be getting one as will make bf in bed so much easier.

I have a snuzpod and a poddle pod for downstairs and a baby bjorn bouncer which my 4 week old loves and settles instantly in x

SnoozyLou · 08/01/2020 22:01

We've got a Chico Next
2 Me for upstairs and a Moses basket for downstairs for naps in the day.

piperk · 09/01/2020 07:44

I've just got Moses basket. Whilst it is a PAIN to carry it upstairs you'll be thankful if baby's fallen asleep in it downstairs and you're ready for bed to be able to carry upstairs and not disturb him/her xx

Parkmorg8 · 09/01/2020 11:41

@piperk great thinking, just curious do you then take him/her out of the Moses basket or let them sleep in that all night long? If so does he/she sleep well? Just curious as I’m 5 weeks along and researching it all is sending me loopy 😂😂 I just wanna know what I need and what is pointless haha! Thanks for sharing!

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 09/01/2020 13:05

I have the Next2Me thing for upstairs and I plan to use the carrycot from the pram for downstairs. Its basically a bed anyway!

piperk · 09/01/2020 13:18

@parkmorg8 no I let baby sleep all night in Moses basket. My last baby was a nightmare baby just made life so much easier also there wasn't 'next to me' or 'sleepyheads' etc as he's now nearly 8! I managed just fine and feel like it's a way of saving money also I saw the next to me as an expense I didn't need. It's all so temporary before they're in their cot xx

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 09/01/2020 13:24

We have a Moses basket for now (3.5 weeks old) and will deicide on cot/bedside cot when DD outgrows it.

Didn't seem much point spending lots of money without knowing how baby was going to sleep.

Will probably get a next to me cot

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 09/01/2020 13:25

I had stories from people who said they never used the Moses basket/cot and it was waste of money.

Liverbird77 · 09/01/2020 16:36

We had a crib next to the bed but my little boy found it too big and wouldn't settle in it for about five months.
He would settle in the Moses basket so we used that at first. We carried it up to the bedroom at night

jadelouiselaird · 10/01/2020 16:48

ive got a next2me crib for upstairs and will be purchasing the chicco hug 4 in 1 for downstairs that also turns into a chair etc.

A little more expensive than a moses basket but has multiple uses. They grow out of moses baskets so quickly

MissPepper8 · 10/01/2020 16:52

We've got a snuzpod upstairs and Im buying a new moses basket for downstairs.

With DS my initial plan was to carry Snuzpod top half downstairs every day and up at night (like on the lovely diagram) but it's heavy as hell and I didn't count on an emergency c-section so I was so glad I'd picked up a basket for downstairs in the end.

You don't take into account sections and how you're going to feel afterwards so I'd definitely recommend something downstairs.

shutupsteph · 10/01/2020 16:55

Just an FYI, ALDI's bedside crib is £79.99 and a moses basket is £29.99 in their baby sale event if anyone is looking to buy!

NameChange30 · 10/01/2020 17:01

For DS we used a bedside crib upstairs (Snuzpod) and the pram carrycot downstairs. Didn't see the point in a Moses basket as they outgrow them so quickly.

He was a terrible sleeper and wouldn't settle when we put him down so I bought a Sleepyhead in desperation; he slept in that both upstairs (in the Snuzpod) and downstairs (on any flat surface, we have a large flat footstool that it fits on perfectly).

I'm expecting DC2 and we will do the same.

If I didn't already have a Snuzpod, I would buy the Tutti Bambini Cozee bedside crib instead, because it's lighter and more portable. In theory you could use it downstairs, although I probably wouldn't. It would be handy for travel though, you could use it as a travel cot too.

PrayingandHoping · 10/01/2020 17:05

I have a Moses basket upstairs and a Tinylove 3in1 rocker which will lay flat downstairs

NeedAnExpert · 10/01/2020 17:07

Had neither.

Used the pram carry cot downstairs (once baby was able to sleep somewhere other than on me) and safely bed-shared at night.
