How to turn baby

Baby was breech at 20 week scan and could feel kicks right down low. Then it flipped as I then had kicks high up and could feel feet in my ribs. But at my 28 week midwife appointment she said baby was laying transverse - the kicks I can now feel are all on the right, in the gap between my ribs and hip bone, with a hard lump on the opposite side just to the left of my belly button. How do you get a transverse baby to turn? And is it likely they still turn at 29/30 weeks?

Op from my understanding they don't worry until 36 weeks. There was a lady in my yoga class transverse until 38 weeks apparently yoga does help though

My baby has always been breech but at 35 weeks turned itself. I didn’t do anything to influence that. As PP says they aren’t concerned until 36 weeks.

You have plenty of time yet for your little one to turn!

I was told scrubbing a floor is the best way to turn a baby. Something about being on all fours and rocking back and forth.

As most people have said, you don't need to worry about this for several weeks yet. They check presentation at 36 weeks. I'm not aware of anything proven to turn the baby, however going on all fours or positions where your hips are above your head/shoulders are said to help.

Gosh, I wouldn’t worry at this stage, babies flip all over the place. Baby will eventually sort itself out.

My baby is breech and I’m 30 weeks. My midwife has said they won’t be remotely concerned until 36 weeks. Baby still has plenty of room to spin. And may do so several times yet.. although I hope not as it hurt when she turned transverse & then breech!

At 36 weeks, if they think baby I’d still breech, I’ll apparently can a scan & the option of booking a section or manually spinning. I’ve heard it’s common for babies to flip even at 38 weeks but blimey that must hurt!

My baby is breech and I’m 34 weeks. I’m meeting with an OBGYN to possibly have a C Section as he’s started to engage hips and bum first (ouch!). I really wouldn’t worry until you get to 32/34 weeks. They’ll either turn them at 36 weeks if it’s safe to do so or keep an eye as there’s always time for baby to move. (Unless they engage like my little monkey 🐒)

Mine was transverse at 28 weeks, breech at 32 weeks and is now head down at 34 weeks (fingers crossed it stays that way!). My midwife reassured me at the 31 week examination that there was plenty of time for the baby to turn and of course she was right!

Thanks for all your replies. I think it is because baby is also measuring big and I am having extra growth scans to keep an eye on it. So in my head I’m thinking if baby (just as an example) measures the size of a 32 week baby instead of a 30 week baby it probably has even less time and space to turn than an average for dates baby.

There's plenty of time for baby to turn. However the Spinning Babies website has great info on getting baby into the optimal position. spinningbabies.com
