Miscarriage - not sure what to do

Hi all,

I have today found out I have had my second miscarriage in the last six months. Thought I was just coming up to 10weeks but baby only 6weeks5, after a good scan and heartbeat at 6weeks3. Obviously gutted.

Last time I let nature take its course, took 2 weeks to start, no real pain but took over a month to fully shift. I now need to decide whether to have a D&C this time or to let it play out again and I just cannot decide. Would like to just get it done (not getting any younger and want to try again as soon as ready), so the only thing against it is the risks associated, but although low risks they seem very serious! I just don’t know what to do. Doctors have left the decision to me. It’s covered by my work medical insurance so no real cost implication.

Does anybody have any advice on how they decided?

Well I tried natural but didn,t work so after 2 wks went for pill but bu time I got it it was more like a month gone. (They thought they saw something viable on scan.) That didn,t work so went in for local anaesthetic. removal today. (2months down the line.) Kind of wishing I had done this in the first place as a lot easier then I thought it would be.

I had a MMC at 12 weeks last october (thought I was 14 weeks). I had a D&C and I'm pleased I did.

Two nights before the surgery I laboured for 12 hours including pushing but nothing materialised. The surgery was the best option for me xx

Ps. Sorry you're going through this x

I've had both 'natural' and d+c (MMC at 11+6 found out at my 13 week scan) i had a d+c with my first mmc, I chose that because I didn't think I could face the trauma of going through it awake, it's still heart wrenching but easier so to speak, I was at the hospital for 7am and back for just after dinner. My second, I miscarried a few days before going back for my second scan 2 days later, because of stuck tissue, I ended up with sepsis, needed two loads of medical management nearly died as a result. My 3rd miscarriage was at home, I want aware I was pregnant as dd is breastfed and again that was traumatic, IMO I'd always opt for a d+c, your asleep, unaware, and it's less painful. Sending Flowers to you, I'm so sorry you're going through this x

I had a missed miscarriage (scan at 10 weeks and baby went at 7). Nothing had started naturally so I was offered medication to effectively induce labour. All I did was insert a pessary (no tablets). Where I am they don’t allow a D&C unless it’s a medical emergency due to risks. It was horrid but over in 4/5 days, so not much waiting. I basically felt like I was giving birth on the floor of the shower (the water helped the pain a bit). I’m terribly sorry for your loss, spend time looking after yourself x

I'm sorry you're going through this, I've never had a d&c but after my MMC (also found at 12 week scan) I had medical management, it was awful, like labour with no baby at the end, then it didn't work completely half was left behind so o had to have a second lot, again awful, resulted in 10 weeks of constant bleeding with no let up, including a haemorrhage which genuinely made me scared I was going to die alone on my living room floor. Never would I do it again if the worst was to happen and I had to make that choice it was soul destroying x

The la management has been very easy and no pain, except the internal injection. But I don,t think it,s as easy for everyone going on the information given.
