Yolk sac too big and ovarian cyst at early scan - please help!

Have just been for my first scan 6+3. Saw the heart beat etc - which he said was really good as I oved late which means I'm really on 6w.
But he reckons the yolk sac is too big and this can be a bad sign?! Has anyone else had this?
Also found a large ovarian cyst which he didn't seem to bothered about so neither am I - should I be?!

Most worried about the yolk sac. Have to go back in two weeks.
Feeling so worrie and upset. Any advice would be so appreciated.

I have no idea about the yolk sac, but had a large cyst on my ovary early on in pregnancy, but its collasped now.

ovarian cysts are normal, during the early stages, until the placenta is fully formed and takes over feeding the baby, they are what provide nourishment (if thats the right word!) for the fertilised egg as it travels down the fallopian tube and attaches to the uterus wall. at least, that is what i was told was the reason why they appear. i had one that grew quite big with dd, it was still there at the detailed scan but by then had started to go smaller.

not sure about the large yolk sac, could be that you started out with 2 eggs, but 1 hasn't formed at all leaving a space in the sac, but that is just a guess, hopefully someone else will come along with more info for you on that.

Thanks ladies. That really helps. Have spoken to my midwife and she's told me not to worry - to early to get a true picture according to her. Hoping she's right!

as soon as I read your post i was going to say it is very early to get a good understanding, but that is completely non-medical answer so glad your midwife has said it.

I have cysts and do some of my friends thru PCOS and none of them seem to infere with pregnancy in fact mine have hardly been mentioned at all. Not sure if that is the same thing - probably not.
