Hi All
I'm 16 weeks and have started looking at baby items I need, I'm considering buying a stroller suitable from birth as I don't drive my partner doesn't drive so we use public transport we live in London, I just wonder what are people thoughts on seeing a newborn in a stroller this is the one I'm considering buying as it from birth

As long as the seat can lie flat it should be fineSmile

Selfsettling3 · 04/01/2020 15:23

I personally won’t be able putting a young baby in a world facing strolling. I think either need to be in a sling or be parent facing.

Engard · 04/01/2020 15:23

A new born needs to be laid flat until 6 months or able to sit up right with support. There are strollers which let you do this but I don't know whether that's the case with this one.

ANiceLuxury · 04/01/2020 15:24

Tbh you will find that you prefer to see baby.

Bugaboo bee is good for public transport and I have a gb maris which is as narrow as a stroller but it world and parent facing

Thesearmsofmine · 04/01/2020 15:26

Baby needs to be flat and ideally facing you. Personally I would get a good sling for the early months, so much easier for public transport and then you can get.a stroller once baby is a big older.

I’d get one of these if you are getting a stroller...the only drawback I feel with stroller is that they don’t seem (in my head) to offer as much protect as a pram would.... The end bit is quite flimsy etc.....

We used a compact stroller on holiday and it was good (7 weeks old) with an insert (the one I’ve put) but I found it annoying as it wasn’t parent facing so I couldn’t see her.

Have you considered one like this? www.online4baby.com/joie-mirus-scenic-stroller-dark-pewter?gclid=EAIaIQobChMImI2R3KDq5gIVBLDtCh1lmAPHEAQYASABEgJNkfD_BwE

Can he both parent and world facing

WelshMammaofaSlovak · 04/01/2020 15:38

We are in the same situation and went for the Bugaboo Fox bit you need to be aware that while it does fold up and they make the folding up look really easy in the shop irl it isn't all that foldable and will leave you with bulky parts that take up just as much room as the pram when whole. In spite of this we love our Fox and I would heartily recommend in spite of the price - you will use it a lot when you don't have a car and it is great on all terrains and it is light but very strong with individual suspension on each wheel. We have used our sling a lot but one thing that you never see in pictures for slings is what to do with the bag of stuff you need for your baby! We had to bottle feed and we use reusable nappies and also needed changes of clothes so we would need a rucksack that was at least as big as the full sling on our back if we were going out and that didn't leave us with any spare space for shopping picked up on the hoof or stuff for us! It's very different it you have a car because you can sling stuff in the boot but if you have to carry everything that you need you have to consider how. I think that they are much easier if you are breastfeeding and they definitely get easier once they are older and need less stuff but for me slings honestly didn't prove as easy in the early days as I was led to believe they would. I really do think that without a car you will need a pram.

Mum2b2020 · 04/01/2020 15:43

The bugaboo bee can be used from birth with the fold up bassinet and that pram is relatively lightweight. A friend who doesnt drive bought it for that reason. I'd be very surprised if that stroller is suitable from birth. The description would normally say if it is. As others have said baby needs to lie flat.

Goldenmother · 04/01/2020 16:48

Thanks for all your reply's and @Namechanger23455 thank you for you reply that's the only thing I would like parent facing so will look into the one your suggested and the cushion for the pram, also people suggesting the bugaboo I'm not a fan of them and I think they are very expensive but I know there are many different ones so price may be different. I'm just trying to be partial the stroller is from birth as I've already stated but I would like a parent facing

@Goldenmother it’s a minefield of all different types of pranks / strollers etc!

I am in the north west but one thing they won’t let you do on my nhs trust is take the baby home from hospital without he/ she being in car seat so bare that in mind also.it might then work out cheaper having a travel system.

It took me ages to decide what to go for for DD (now 4 months) I ended up with a mamas and papas Sola 2, the only reason was I went to the mamas and papas outlet near us and picked one up for £79 in the clearance sale!!
I had spent hours trawling the internet.... they are some really pricey ones out there!
Mine is around the £350 mark from their proper shops and there is nothing at all special about it to make it that price.

Good luck!

Namechanger23455 · 04/01/2020 16:56

Pranks = pranks

Namechanger23455 · 04/01/2020 16:57

Goldenmother · 04/01/2020 17:03

@Namechanger23455 thank you I'm still looking but I'm just trying to be particle and 3rd time round wiser with what I spend money on I've seen a few others I like that are peaks and parent facing I've still got plenty of time I'm not buying till end of the month I just know at some stage I'll end up buying a stroller and there for think a stroller from birth would be wise but like I've said I would prefer parent facing thanks for you help

This is what I have. As narrow as a stroller and faces both ways and lies flat

Goldenmother · 04/01/2020 18:12

@ANiceLuxury that's a nice pram I'm looking at other travel systems

Engard · 04/01/2020 18:24

Strollers are so much easier than prams! Life changer when we moved over. Says it's suitable from birth so 👍👍👍 it's nice to have baby facing you but I don't think it's a health thing so 🤷🏻‍♀️

How about something like this then baby can be parent facing whilst tiny? And it's morel like the stroller you originally looked at than a full travel system?

Goldenmother · 04/01/2020 19:24

@muffin21 that really nice I've ask for a notification when it back in stock thank you

I used to look after my God daughter when she was a few weeks old. She went straight into a lie flat stroller. She was fine. The hood had a viewing window, so could easily be seen.

annlee3817 · 04/01/2020 20:59

We got a Graco travel system which was very similar to the one you have pictured. I regretted it massively, it wasn't padded for a new born, the straps were flimsy and the material was cheap. I ended up getting a second hand travel system instead for the same money but with a carry cot etc. My DD looked much more comfortable in it, if I had to do it again I'd use a sling or carrier mostly, and have get a decent parent facing stroller second hand that was nicely padded for them to sleep in. Carry cot only got around five weeks of use Hmm
