I'm 37 and expecting my first 19th July. My 12 week scan is on Monday and I am feeling quite nervous and just hope that everything will be ok! I keep telling myself there is no point in worrying and what will he will be. I knew that I always wanted to be a Mum (although never been massively broody) and had been putting it off but got to a point where I thought it's now or never! I am guessing your scan is also due soon- I did have an early scan 5 or 6 weeks ago which helped to ease my mind a little.

I'm 41 and pregnant with my 2nd child. I had 2 miscarriages last year so I'm pretty neurotic, but I'm at 16 weeks now and have had 3 scans - all ok, touch wood.

Congratulations!

Aww congrats I’m sure it will be fine good luck for Monday!. my scan is on Friday I’ve not been given an early scan to put my mind at rest unfortunately but I’m definitely started to show! my midwife scared me by saying I’m higher risk of twins! I just hope it will be all ok , I’ve also been put on aspirin and will need to inject from 28 weeks scary!x

MMC at 35
DC1 at 36
DC2 at 38
MC at 40
DC3 at 41

I was under consultant care for DC3 due to my age but she said more than once that she'd be much more worried about a 25 yo with weight or health issues giving birth than me. Age does increase the risks, but if you are otherwise fit, healthy and active the risks remain low. Good luck OP, and hope your scan goes well.

I'm a mum of 2 already and 7 years ago I miscarried I took it very hard as there was only a few day apart of me and my friend due date, I spent the next year obsessed with getting pregnant I felt I needed to prove I could have a baby but sadly it never happen I was then diagnosed with PCOS and I was convinced I couldn't have children and I had given up and excepted I was lucky to have the 2 children I have so I didn't use contraceptives and 7 years later the biggest shock but a blessing I'm expecting I'm 38 years old my youngest child is 13 and I kept saying to my hubby I'm to old to start all over again but along the way I've had bleeds then got the all clear at 12 weeks and then the dreaded phone call my combine screening test had come back at high risk for Down's syndrome 1 out 113 I was very lucky I was offered the harmony test on the NHS I've since found out that not all are offered in depending where you are location my result came back low risk 1 out 10,000, but I find myself waiting for the next thing to happen I feel I can't enjoy this pregnancy as I'm scared something will go wrong.

Me! Turning 39 in March. 5 weeks 4 days at the moment, and really anxious about the first scan.

sugarisbitter · 04/01/2020 15:26

Had my first dc at 17 & 19. Ds3 was at 30 and I was repeatedly told it was a Geriatric pregnancy due to age and the 10 year gap.

I Was told ds3 was small, needed scans EOW and he has issues with his kidneys which meant the believed he could have Down syndrome, but didn't want to got further with testing told to wait and see.

Well at the last scan I saw a different consultant which said that his kidneys were typical for boys, and ds3 came out at 7.4 and put on weigh the first two weeks.

Try not to worry. And always get a second opinion. Ask questions and get answers. Don't google

Dd1 at 38, Dd2 at 39- some complications, placenta previa with Dd2, but nothing age related- They're now 1 & 2 and fab!! I'm now 40 and knackered! But that's because I've got two very busy little girls- so all good Smile

Rubyroost · 04/01/2020 16:23

Hi, I'm 41 and on my 5th pregnancy and hopefully second child. I'm shit scared about the risks, I'm currently 29 weeks with a large baby.

Miscarried at 37, had first baby at 39 (due date was exactly the same as first pregnancy! ) Had tfmr (t21) at 40. Got pregnant again at 40 in May and miscarried and then got pregnant again in June.

I've had nipt and two 20 week scans (1 private) as well as scans in between. All looks okay, but I am still really worried. Hopefully, you'll be fine. I know loads of 39 year olds who have had absolutely no issues whatsoever.

Rubyroost · 04/01/2020 16:24

Don't Google... Famous last words. 😬😳😂

Kezmum14 · 04/01/2020 18:53

I’m 38 and having pregnant with my 5th. I’m high risk anyway due to 3 precious c sections, a PPH, pre eclampsia twice, weight and now age. I’ve just had my 12 week scan and all was as expected. No just nervous for my 20 week scan. I’m due 11th July but have been told o will have a x section around 37/38 weeks of I have no complications. 😬

buddhababy2019 · 04/01/2020 20:06

I've just turned 40 and due number 2 next month. I've found it a lot harder than I did with my first (when I was in my 20's), much more tired this time around and I'm a higher risk this time anyway because first was prem.
