Any tips or advice on what worked for you would be amazing! ❤️

I've got really bad SPD(PGP). For the last three weeks my left scaitic nerve has completely gone, (we're talking, not able to walk or stand more then a few seconds) although I am try to do the correct physio and trying to walk as much as possible but I'm failing miserably. I'm 29 weeks pregnant, and I'm now taking this as what's going to happen until the baby is born, the orthopedic consultant says I may need surgery after if I've herniated some disks. I just can't bare this burning, and numbness/ tingling! My partner has now had to start caring for me full time, I feel useless(ofc I'm carrying his child etc) but I'm nesting like crazy and can only be horizontal lady. ☹️

Tell me it gets better? ☹️🤣

Can you do any form of exercise? Pilates (pregnancy only) might help. I know your gonna hate me for saying this but u need to keep on moving.

I had sciatica (prior to pregnancy) and it flares up.

  1. Buy some of those pilates balls (spiky) and get your OH to gently run up and down ur leg
  1. You need to try and find someone who can massage you (go private if you can). They wont be able to to deep tissue but a good massage helps. Ask your other half to massage you from ur toes all the way up to ur bottom. Use some warn olive or coconut oil if you can stand the smell.
  1. Hydrotherapy... warm pools or a warm bath might help. Soak in some epsom salts
  1. White tiger balm (rub this over the area where you get the pain)
  1. And dont push urself too much. Listen to your body. Baby stepa you are growing a little human.

Good luck.

Yours sounds so much worse than Mine, but I can totally understand where you're coming from. I'm 26 weeks and I I stand/ walk for more than 30 minutes my leg feels like it's on fire and is being stabbed.

I'm going to see how going back to work goes (primary school teacher so very physical) and talk to my midwife about it, as just on days out over Christmas I've been crying in pain.

Hope it settles down for you at least and like others say - don't overdo it. Xx

Sleeping with a pillow between your legs and on your side is good for sciatica. Using a massage ball on your bum whichever side it is, this can be sore once you know you've got the right spot, but does help. I haven't got experience of SPD, just sciatica, but wondering if a referral to a physio is needed for both. Do you have private health through work or anything? Could get you into physio faster

I can't lay down in the bath as it flares up. I have tried putting a pillow between my legs, and doing my stretches, nothing gives me relief. Trying to keep moving as much as possible. Nothing seems to be working. ☹️

My sciatica wasn't as bad as what you describe though the pain did bring me to tears on occasion. I found lying on heated wheat packs the thing that gave me the most relief at home. I had a few of different shapes and sizes and would lay one under my knee and hamstring, one under my bum cheek and one under my back.

I also tried massage, acupuncture, physiotherapy and osteotherapy but it wasn't until I found a good chiropractor that I got more lasting relief. In general I am usually hesitant to recommend chiro, but it honestly helped me so much.
