Sharp pains low down in vagina

Hi, I’m suffering with low back/right bum cheek pain, but alongside that I’m also getting really sharp shooting pains in my vagina that literally stop me in my tracks!
It’s usually when I’m walking or standing up.

I’m 34+4 at the moment, should I be ringing the midwife or is this fairly normal at this stage? X

Sounds like pelvic girdle pain I suffered with. Take it easy & rest. Ask your midwife, I saw a physiotherapist and wore a support bandage which helped.

I would ring the midwife and describe these symptoms.
I am old and years ago while 8 months pregnant I experienced pain low down. I went to my doctor who said “What do you expect if you have a big bump? Well the pain went on over the weekend and I gave birth on a Monday morning with the ambulance ringing it’s bell. I enjoyed sending the doctor a card announcing the early birth.

Ugh. Brings the memory of PGP right back even though it was 7 years ago now...as a poster on here at the time told me, you know it's PGP when it feels like a red hot knitting needle right up the fanjo.

The only thing that helped me was a massive elastic support belt that went round my hips with Velcro straps. It basically held the two halves of my pelvis together. I think it was called a sacroilliac belt and was about £20 IIRC, the physio told me what kind to get.

No fun OP but on the bright side my PGP disappeared immediately after birth both times! So not long now Thanks

It's all Completly normal but if your in doubt give your midwife a call. Baby may of moved down slightly causing the shooting pains (joys of the third trimester) the pain in your lower back/bum also does sound like pgp which again is very common and normal. Baby is getting bigger and putting more strain on your body.

I got these sharp pains that would stop me walking with my second pregnancy around this stage. They got more persistent as the weeks went on. The midwife said that it was the baby starting to engage and push on my nerves. I think they call it lightening crotch. I’d still mention it to the midwife as it can’t help to check Smile

Fanny daggers! Also known as lightning crotch. Just another lovely pregnancy thing!

I had that and 12 hours later ended up with a baby ..
