Work and tiredness in 3rd trimester

Gone back to work after Christmas and despite the break, feel pretty exhausted. I'm nearly 32 weeks. I have 6 weeks till mat leave. I'm quite lucky that my boss says I can work from home a bit, come in late etc and due to the sort of job I do, I can't take on much new work. Usually my job is quite intense, but I can see myself not having lots of work to do over the next few weeks. I appreciate this is a good thing, but I also feel very guilty seeing colleagues hard at work and wonder if I'm allowing myself to be a bit lazier than I need to because I can get away with it. I'm normally a bit of a workaholic as well! Im just wondering how other people found work in the last trimester? Did you manage to keep going at your normal pace? Did you start to wind down and when?

Don't give yourself a hard time. I haven't gone to the office since 29 weeks. I've still been doing my work and I just don't care. I am in agony daily from SPD and still suffering from Hypermensis.

I also don't sleep at night because of restless legs and also have terrible heartburn at night. This all means I get maybe 2-3 hours of broken sleep every night. Since about week 28-29. I'm 36 weeks now. I'm still doing the odd bits and bobs, but I really can't do more. It's not laziness, it's pregnancy- it affects everyone differently. Unfortunately for me, it's been very, very difficult . I get tired just getting dressed and having a shower in the morning and have to take breaks to lie down constantly. Also still vomiting 2-3 times a day. So no. Don't feel bad. Only you know how you're feeling. My mat leave is due to start in a couple of weeks. I'll try to hold on, but I'm definitely just doing the absolute necessary in terms of work. I'm also considering starting holidays before my mat leave, just to get work completely out of my mind.

Just because some women work and feel great when pregnant, doesn't mean you need to feel guilty or lazy if you just don't have the energy.

Oh and in terms of taking on new things, I have not done any of that for a while either. So I've just had a lot less on my plate than usual. Which sounds like what your situation is turning into. But quite frankly, I couldn't physically have worked at the old usual pace anyway. So I don't feel bad. Neither should you.
