'Gender scan' at 15 weeks?

Hi,

Has anyone found out the sex of their baby at 15 weeks? I've always heard it's from 16 weeks onwards but a very well known clinic by me does it from 15 weeks!

Really want to book it but just wondering if anyone else has successfully seen the sex at that point?

It's an award-winning private company and they charge £79 for the 'gender scan' with the package (balloon, confetti etc) so I'd like to think I could trust it but I just thought 16 weeks was the absolute earliest!

It's a week just book it for 16 weeks surely?

Having confetti and balloons so early sounds batshit like tempting fate, to be honest.

There is a clinic by me that does from 15 weeks and I booked and found out at 15 weeks book it xx

I had a gender scan with this pregnancy at 14 weeks as a place near me does them that early.. Could easily see he's a boy which has been confirmed at other scans I've had since.

A scan can identify the sex of a foetus. Sex is immutable.

Gender is a social construct. Gender can be fluid.

We need to be clear what we are talking about.

Ask them how they can tell the gender of a foetus, or even a baby that can't talk.

And I agree about tempting fate.

I'll be away for when I'm 16 weeks so it'll be a lot longer wait so that's why I was wondering about doing it when I'm 15 weeks I guess I'm just really excited as I've waited for this for a long long time so just can't wait to start buying things

They're more likely to not be able to tell but if that happens they'll just tell you to come back in a week and by offering to do it earlier they've then secured your money. Quite a clever marketing ploy. Personally, I wouldn't buy things before the 20 week anomaly scan anyway.

Give the OP a break, she’s excited.

Save your money op, enjoy your pregnancy and baby. If I could give you one piece of advice - that’s don’t wish away the stage you are in.
You’ll never be pregnant for the first time and not know the sex of your baby again, so enjoy it, save the £80 and find out at 20 weeks.
Similarly when the baby is born don’t always be looking for the next stage. My bus is full of anxious mums wondering when their baby will dot instead of enjoying when they only lie.

I also know of a couple of people whose earlier scan got it wrong and they had to go and swap everything they'd bought because it was incredibly important to them that everyone could tell what type of genitals the kid had from twenty feet away

I assume you know OP, but the clinic obviously doesn't. On those grounds, I wouldn't use it.
Why are you so desperate to know the baby's sex?

Yeah it looks like I might have to just wait more for a peace of mind! I'll book it at a later date for when I get back

I'm only booking the 'gender scan' because I have a loyalty card with the company, once I book my gender scan I get a free 4D scan (as I've had a few early pregnancy reassurance scans after my miscarriage) so I will be basically paying more money by NOT booking the gender scan and doing the 4D scan later on as the 4D ones at £100+ opposed to the 60-79£ for the 'gender' and also I'm very excited to find out too

I had a reassurance scan on Saturday at 15+4 (wouldn't allow you to book a 'gender' scan until 16 weeks). The sonographer asked us if we'd like to know the sex as it was 'blatantly clear' apparently. We're having a boy 💙 x

I had my gender scan the day I turned 15 weeks and we found out she is a girl very quickly! There's either a penis or there isn't 🤷‍♀️ We even got a little 4D snapshot of her which was lovey 😊 It was then confirmed at my 20 week anomaly scan.

Our place does from 14 weeks but going to find out at 16 just incase. They do say for their insurance they have to be certain and all of their reviews are very good. Good luck!

Why can’t you buy stuff until you know whether your baby is a boy or a girl?

I had both mine at 15 and they could tell easily

You can guarantee the ones who are pulling you up on using "gender" instead of "sex" saw your thread title. Jumped on to have a go without reading any of your post 😒 you have done nothing wrong x

I would do it. If they allow you to book that early maybe they have good scan machines and might be able to see it. I guess they have in their policy a rescan in case they can't quite see it.

I found out at 16 weeks with my last two, although they were NHS scans. It's been then confirmed through following scans.

People who are contrary to find soon should abstain in commenting. If someone can afford it, it's their problem not yours. If people want to focus their buying on having a boy or a girl, it's their problem. Because others might want to dress or treat their children "neutral" it's your problem, but don't force it on others.

Plus you can guarantee when someone asks about 'gender scans' there will be some who like wolves are ready to jump and defend their convictions.

Limit yourselves to answer the question the posters asked.

I had a gender scan at 15 weeks for my now 3 year old. Its the earliest they guarantee here that they can see. The person I went to will only say if he can definitely see without a doubt
