I get myself flustered working out what the term “reduced movements” means and when you should get checked out.
FTM 31+ 2 weeks.
She hasn’t really developed much of a movement pattern so it’s not really the same each day.
The midwife said at my last appointment that as long as I’m feeling her move that’s ok.
Yesterday I was feeling big kicks as well as turns and rolls.
This morning she was having a kick when I was eating breakfast but this afternoon I haven’t had any big kicks, just rolls and turns.
So is that reduced movements as it’s different to yesterday? But each day seems to be different anyway. Are movements supposed to be the same each day?
I know it seems like such a stupid question but at what point are you supposed to be checked or worry?
I seem to always be worrying myself about movements.

If in doubt get checked out. Far, far better to have a few extra trips to the hospital compared with what could be life threatening to you or your baby.

Any nagging feeling or uncertainty just go and get checked.

I'd try not to worry OP, from what your describing your feeling movements? It will be different everyday- LO's still doing some growing in there, discovering new things, learning new movements so they will differ day to day - sounds all normal to me?

If your feeling no movements at all for a length of time that's what 'reduced' means- if in doubt, always call to get yourself checked and have a chat about any concerns.

Your nearly due your next appointment? They'll become more frequent now as time comes close, ask as many questions as you need to and get checked as often as you want- but try not to worry-

Hey OP. I feel movements every 2-3 hours every day. I write it down. For me, if I felt absolutely no movements for over 4-5 hours, that would be reduced movements. Also, if I felt the movements every 2-3 hours, but they were just tiny- then I would also go in to get checked.

I had it the other day where all day, I felt movements at the usual 2-3 hour intervals from the morning- but they were so slight. Not the usual crazy kicking. So by 2 pm I did a kick count for two hours after eating and drinking and didn't get up to 10 movements at all. So I knew I had to go straight in.

Nothing was wrong at all. I just didn't feel the movements for some reason ! I hope that helps a little? Just to explain how I've worked out some kind of pattern.

Hey OP, I think for me personally (currently 33 weeks) i'd consider kicks/punches/rolls/turns to all be ONE movement in terms of type.

So if baby is not kicking as much but is turning and rolling as usual - I wouldn't deem that reduced.

If baby is not kicking as much, and is not turning much or generally doing much activity at all compared to normal time frames - I would consider that reduced.

Don't forget when baby does roll maybe they could be kicking in to your back and you might not be feeling it as clearly.

If in doubt - always get checked Smile
