Just want to know what the chances could be for a 49 year old. Unplanned pregnancy, but had 8 prior miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy.

What were your risks of Down's, Edward's, Patau's at over age 45?

The statistics used for the “combined test” (the usual one offered to all by the NHS) are pretty meaningless because they are based on data which is years out of date when very few people in their 40s had babies.
In reality, it seems that if a pregnancy gets to 12 weeks it is most likely that baby is unaffected by chromosomal issues, but that is about all we can say.
It would be well worth considering NIPT (non invasive testing) if you would consider ending the pregnancy if baby was affected by Downs, Edwards or Pataus because NIPT result is not affected by your age.

Good luck!

I had NIPT at 39 because I knew NHS would just be able to offer a high risk. I’d definitely do NIPT at 49.

From 10 weeks and cost £400.

Prices vary around the country. If you are go to a private clinic please make sure that they have detailed knowledge of the test they are using and have a clear plan for how to deal with a high chance result. Some companies will allow almost anyone who knows how to take a blood sample to do them, but this means that people are often not getting clear/correct information. There are a lot of concerns about this in specialist circles www.nuffieldbioethics.org/blog/nipt-private
Many brands of the test are now available. The SAFE test is processed at St George’s in London & they are careful who they allow to do the tests!

I’m 47 and my background risk was 1:11 for Trisomy 21 and 1:20 for Trisomy 13/18. The Adjusted risk using the nuchal and bloods cane out at 1:217 and 1:398 and I also had the harmony test at the Fetal Medicine Centre which gave a result of less than 1:10000 for all three. I would highly recommend FMC - I went for the 10 week package that cost £400 and included an early scan, the harmony test and the nuchal scan. Having the test done was reassuring and the final scan was really thorough - it took nearly an hour and they checked absolutely everything: heart, kidneys, brain, heart rate, blood flow etc. Had I been high risk for anything they would have offered a free amniotic test. They also dealt with a barrage of questions from my rather over excited DS2 politely and patiently!

I'm 45 and the triple test came back as low risk. It starts as higher then your background health and nuchal fold measurement get added in.
