Lower back pain

I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant with my first baby and for the past couple of weeks or so I've had constant lower back pain. It's right at the bottom of my back and almost slightly to the left.

Even when lying down it's painful if I move and sitting for too long is a no no (I think that's probably due to pressure)

I'm quite petite at 5'2 and weighing about 8stone 9 pre pregnancy so I don't know if it's because everything is shifting to make room for the baby or if it's something more.

Has anyone else experienced this and what have you done to manage the pain? It's not excruciating but it is bothersome and virtually constant!!

TIA

Could be spd, it's how mine started. Talk to the midwife and get a referral to physio. I kept hot water bottles on my back a lot as I don't like taking painkillers anyway

I'm 10 weeks and exactly the same with back ache and pelvis starting to hurt, its my 3rd so I was expecting it. Try sleeping with a pillow between your knees. I also bought a pregnancy pillow, it's supports you all round while lying down, it doesn't get rid of the pain but it helps. I saw the midwife yesterday and she pointed out a number in the midwife pack to self refer for physio, you might have a number to call also, good luck, we are in for a long ride 😔 xx

Thank you for replying!
I don’t like taking painkillers either as I prefer to take them when I really need them! I’ve been using a hot water bottle which somewhat helps and trying to rest as much as I can. I’ll speak to the midwife at the 16 week app (if I can hold off for 3weeks) and see what she says. @Tigerso6 thanks for the tips, I will give them a go!

If you sleep with the pillow between your knees you also need to have it between your ankles so the whole lower body is evened out. I had to self refer to the physio but they wanted to know the midwife had told me to do it first.
Look into pregnancy belts too but make sure it's like over the bump and below the crotch if that makes sense, the physio said the others make the pain worse
