Could this be labour?

I'm 38 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Over the last couple of weeks I've been getting alot of Braxton Hicks. The midwife also confirmed that the baby had descended.

A few days ago my stomach started to tighten and release amd I got very mild period like pains. This has been on and off till yesterday.

Yesterday the tightening got alot more tense and so did the period like pains. I keep thinking this is it but it doesn't progress further.

This morning about 5am felt like I tense contractions - I had 2 in an hour but that was it and I fell back to sleep.

Over the last couple of weeks the baby is extremely heavy in my pelvis. I can barely walk. She is extremely active and always has been throughout pregnancy. I haven't had any issues apart from the fact that I'm considered fairly high risk as I'm 39 and on medication - Lamotrogine and Citilopram.

I had bursts of energy and my bowel movement have increased to two per day. I'm also struggling to move around and heavy. I've got alot of water retention which has been checked already. Could this be the start? I'm reluctant to go to the maternity ward as I always get told everything is fine after getting checked and I feel awkward and fobbed off. This then aggrevates my social anxiety. I'm not in the UK so free doctors appointments means waiting hours and hours. I don't have access to a midwife except at the clinic I'm registered at which again you wait for hours.

If the pains are not getting worse then it sounds like it's still just braxton hicks this is what I've had since week 32 now nearly 36 week. (3rd baby here though)
But you could do with giving the hospital a ring and ask there advice as it could be slow labour or they may want you to go in to be checked out. You don't need to feel awkward or fobbed off if everything is fine they would rather you go get checked out than ignore and something be wrong etc.

Thanks for your response. I'm now feeling my stomach is about to burst and extremely tight. Not painful but extremely uncomfortable. My DP had to go out for an hour. Will go to maternity at the hospital when he's back.
