Hi all, just thought i would start a thread introducing myself i'm gemma otherwise known here as cornishkitten.
I'm 16 weeks pregnant with my second scan on the 25th of september.
I'm already showing and was wandering if people could help me with a few things? This is my first pregnancy to this stage (previously miscarried at 5 weeks).

  1. I felt what i believe are baby 'flutters' at 15 weeks, but to me it felt like i was being lightly tickled from within my stomach, kinda made my whole belly lurch it felt so strange. Is that the flutters and is it normal so early on, i always thought it was from 19 weeks onwards with your first child.

    And;

  2. I havent been weighed by my midwife, i've recently moved into a different area so have only met my midwife once, after being told by the first that i would see somebody regularly because of the medication i'm on. (It's a form of steroid to higher my blood pressure and stop me from fainting). So i find it strange that i havent even been weighed.... by anybody since finding out i was pregnant at 5 weeks.

I dont want to seem like im a freeked out person but i'm only twenty and seem to get the look from people if i start to ask questions, i've also told people i plan to bottle feed could this be why im getting the look also. i read in Take a Break that some women felt shunned because the decided against or couldnt breast-feed?

    Some help please.

welcome cornishkitten and congratulations! There is an antenatel thread for the month you are due that you can join

The flutters you felt at 15 weeks are almost certainly your baby!

Don't worry about being weighed, it's not really important at this stage unless you are very over or underweight, or if you have fluid retention.

A word of advice : some of the breastfeeding/bottlefeeding threads on mumsnet can get very heated. In fact, a lot of threads on mumsnet get heated and turn into an arguement! You need a thick skin for some of them.

There is an expecting in February 2008 thread you might want to join, cornishkitten.

Er,yes, you'll find that many parenting decisions are potentially controversial -- how you feed them is just a springboard to so much more.

I'm not sure why you want to be weighed -- is it relevant to your medication? You need to ask Midwives and GP about it. Just make an appointment with GP to talk about your pregnancy management.

Welcome cornishkitten

Good luck with your pregnancy. Mumsnet is an invaluable source of information and just great for making friends

I was never weighed in pregnancy so I wouldn't worry about it. Your bump will be measured at your checkups so they will be able to keep an eye on the baby's growth.

Breast vs bottle is a very contentious issue but you have to make the choice that is right for you, but it is a good idea to get information before hand, check out the feeding threads. I'm afraid that now you are pregnant and once you have a baby it's a case of you are damned if you do and damned if you don't !

Welcome Cornishkitten!

Dont worry about not being weighed. Even if you're quite overweight (like me) you might not even get weighed! I've not stepped on the scales once!

Enjoy your pregnancy!

Hello cornishkitten, congratulations on your pregnancy and yes, those flutters are indeed more than likely your baby moving around. I felt them rather early too, so enjoy them, don't worry.

With my first I breast fed for only about 8 weeks and right from day 1 gave my daughter a bottle feed once a day. When I said that, I also for quite a few stares and looks - take it on the chin - it's your choice and don't apologise for it.

If your midwife can see you are a healthy weight then that may be the reason she felt no need to weigh you.

Ok brilliant, thanks everyone... i just thought it was a common thing to be weighed, see how much your putting on each month. Just an overactive brain going stir-crazy again! Thanks for the advice though it sure helps!

Hi CK welcome to MN.

i had better warn you the addiction starts here You will now spend your time wondering if anyone has responded to the thread you started, wondering if anyone has started any good threads lately and when anything happens in RL you will be thinking of the title you will use to start a thread about it
