37 weeks with throat infection

Over the last few days I've developed all the lovely symptoms of a throat infection, just what I need at 37 weeks. Does anyone know anything that will actually help shift it? Worried about going into labour with it - generally these things like to stick around in my system, my immune system was shot before pregnancy (I had a chest infection for almost 3 months last year, verging on hospitalisation!) so I'm really worried it won't shift by time baby comes.

I'm taking paracetamol, drinking plenty of water, honey & lemon drinks and tea and getting lots of rest but aren't sure what else I can take. Are all cough medicine/throat soothing medicine off limits?

I haven't been to the GP yet, I'm not sure they could do anything anyway with it likely being viral and I don't like wasting their time with stuff like this if there's nothing they can do, I am due to see my consultant on Monday so will mention to her.

Go to the GP, it may not be viral and there are antibiotics you can take in pregnancy. I had a severe chest infection at 34 weeks, suffered for about 3 weeks taking paracetamol then ended up in A&E at New Year because it got so hard to breathe. I've also had a cough/cold/lugry thing that turned into sinusitis which you really dont want whilst in labour!!

If its a throat infection they would give you antibiotics. Which are safe to take during pregnancy but jakemans sweets can be used. These are the only cough type sweets that are recommended during pregnancy.
