Just wondering if anyone has any advise/information really. Have been googling but nice to hear from people who are, or have been in the same boat I am currently 10+3, and suffered a small bleed last week (after b'ding we managed to get scanned yesterday and the baby looks fine, but there is a 4 cm (in diameter) fibroid at the top of my uterus. Sonograper lady said its quite common (although this one is quite large) and that it shouldnt cause any problems. My scan pictures show the fibroid is pressing down on the shape of the uterus, causing an indentation where the baby is, will this affect the babies development at all? Did having a fibriod affect your pregnancy at all? Will i need to have it removed and any time??

Sorry lots of questions! I dont see my midwife until weds and its playing on mind a bit x

I have fibroids (can't remember the size or anything) and I think your songorapher is almost certainly spot on. And I'm sure your midwife will reassure you too.

When I was 9+1 weeks, sonographer saw a 2.4 fibroid and said the same thing (common+not to worry). I am now 21 weeks and so far so good, no problems. So I would not worry really

oops it meant to read '2.4 cm'

I had very large fibroids (was actually told I was unlikely to get pregnant because of them - within a year I had had my DS). They didn't cause any problems with either that pregnancy or my DD - other than causing people who were feeling my tummy early on in the pregnancy to wonder if I was having twins! It can complicate things if you have to have a cs - I had an emergency cs with DS and a planned with DD and mine didn't cause any problems there either. I'm sure everything will be fine with you too.

Because I had a large fibriod (can't remember size) I had to be scanned quite frequently..

At one point I was told I would have to have a CS as the fibroid was in the way, then I was told that as the baby has pushed past the fibroid I now would not be able to have a CS as would be too dangerous..

As it happens, the baby did get stuck and I had to have a CS.. but am unsure if the fibroid had anything to do with that?

You may find that you are scanned more often to keep and eye on it (which I thought was fab as i got to see the baby lots of times)...

I have a 3cm fibroid that was identified at my first scan. It didn't cause me any problems during pregnancy, and I didn't have any additional scans because of it. I ended up having a cs because dd got stuck, but no-one was able (or willing) to say whether the fibroid contributed to that.

I had fibroid when scanned at 11 weeks - anterior measuring 31 x 42 x 31 mm (got that off my notes - don't remember that good )

Subsequently I've been scanned at 14 weeks, 22 weeks, 28 weeks and 30 Weeks (due to previous preg probs)and it hasn't been mentioned. When asked, the sonagrapher has hardly been able to see it - last 2 scans it wasn't visible at all. MW and consultant not concerned in the slightest either.

All the best

When pregnant with ds2 they found a fibroid during a 9 week scan, and by 12 weeks they had shrunk down.
