Headaches in 2nd trimester

Hi, has anyone suffered from headaches in their 2nd trimester? Didn't have even one headache in my first trimester when they're supposed to be common, now I am 16 weeks & for the last couple of days I'm waking up with a dull, pressure like headache that's lasting hours & coming & going throughout the day despite drinking lots!! 🙁

Take paracetamol. I've had headaches on and off throughout. Apparently full fat coke and paracetamol works well too. (I've not tried that but midwives suggest it)

Speak to your midwife/go as soon as you can. The midwife should check your blood pressure and urine to look for proteins to ensure it's not pre-eclampsia.

Do you have any other symptoms like swollen hands or face?

If the paracetamol doesn't help then you should seek advice. Don't necessarily think a headache is anything serious because they are a common symptom

Thank you @Boymummy3 @SophiaLarsen @Delbelleber. I haven't got swollen hands, feet or face but I'm aware of pre eclampsia & was worried that the headaches might be an early sign of it but I've got my midwife appointment next week so I'll mention it to her xx

I had awful ones around 15/16 weeks last time. Had to stay off work as they were that bad. I didn't know to have them checked for blood pressure, however I did read somewhere that they can occur just after the first trimester because of a change in hormone levels. Which made sense for me, as I get bad hormone related headaches with my periods. I think they lasted 3 weeks or so.

This time, I've got milder ones thankfully but they're still unpleasant.

Paracetamol helps ease them but not get rid of them. I'd say, if they don't ease up soon get your midwife to check you over. But hopefully it's just a temporary transition thing!
