Feeling pretty low as anyone would with the crazy hormones just days before due date .

Just wondered whether there is anyone out there who has had a healthcare in pregnancy .

I seem to have a health problem related To the heart and despite several consultants being involved no one can tell me why . Need more follow up can only be done after baby is born . I’m walking about fine , but been warned that child birth will be putting my body under excessive stress , and they are recommending it is all minimised through various protocols ( a more controlled delivery )

Just wondered whether anyone has been in a similar situation and how they coped .

I’m not worried about me as much as much as I’m worried about my young children and how well I’m going to be after to look after them , did not want a complex delivery .

Depends on what the condition is. I had supra ventricular tachycardia - which can be hard to diagnose if not in the middle of an attack. It has now been cured with an ablation. After a nasty episode in pregnancy, I was told I would have a medically managed delivery including an epidural, with the possibility of aC section. Due to a combination of circumstances( including a fast first stage and slow second) I didn’t, and had just gas and air - they did pay close attention to my heart rate but all was fine. DC2 also ok.

Ohh, sounds scary and stressful but please try not to worry too much and be calm. I have a heart/ lung issue and had way too many people involved in my pregnancies/deliveries. I rationalised it by reminding myself that these things are are a problem when you don’t know about them but are manageable when you do. Of course it’s not ideal but my mantra was that I wanted successful pregnancies/outcomes, not necessarily idealised ones, and that was what I got. Concentrate on a happy ending and let the details drift away. Sending much love and positivity xxx

Hi jellyfish and shells , yes similar sort of thing here I’ve been advised pretty much the same thing about a medically managed delivery .

Come back Peter come back Paul , thanks so much for the pick me up , you are right I can’t worry about the details , I seem to have a respiratory problem too , again no one knows why ( been going on since my second born ) and what the implications are . Everyone is telling me not to panic , but then I saw a whole Load of doctors panic when they diagnosed me with the heart issue because they were concerned for the pregnancy and they even thought about inducing an early delivery on the spot which was very frightening because I’d only gone to a ‘ precautionary ‘ echo and had consistently been told they weren’t expecting to find anything !Hadn’t even expected to get sent straight to obstetrics to the point that I’d told my babysitter that I’d be back in an hour didn’t have any family with me and didn’t even have my maternity notes .

Anyway after hours of prodding , a call to my OH to come home and my family to watch the kids , loads of doctors piling in and threatening me with steroid injections ( which I wouldn’t take ) a doctor at another hospital said I’d be fine to wait and try to go to full term .

Thankfully I’m considered full term now but I won’t be allowed to go a day over due date . I just wish I knew what the right thing to do about following the doctors orders about a medically managed delivery or Just going with the spinal anaesthetic and assisted delivery / c section .

I haven’t had a c section before , I’ve had an assisted delivery with my first and normal delivery with my second . I think a normal delivery is much easier than the alternatives , but don’t see how it is wise to go against three consultants advice to go with the assisted delivery at the very least .

Don’t want to put the baby at risk either

( The assisted delivery with the first was an emergency after very long labour , not something I chose .)
I found the recovery extremely slow and painful , and. With my second I knew I just wanted to go natural as possible so o could get home to my eldest .

So worried about being stuck on hospital and not being at home with my other little ones ( who are also very young )
