Retroverted Uterus 14 weeks pregnant

Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone had experienced a retroverted uterus past the first trimester.

I was told that the uterus should have moved into the correct position by 12 weeks but I am now 14 weeks and it is still fully retroverted.

Any similar stories very much welcome

I have a retroverted uterus but haven't been told if its moved and I'm 25+5 weeks. My bump still looks fairly small due to it being retroverted but I'm seeing my consultant in 2 weeks to check everything is going well due to high risk pregnancy.

Abbs1 Thank you for commenting 😊

Have you had any additional complications due to it being retroverted? I made the mistake of googling it and coming across a certain condition called incarcerated uterus where baby gets stuck in the pelvis I am freaking that this may happen to me.

It's my first pregnancy and I feel quite alone with it in a sense that I dont have anyone to ask if this is normal or has been through a similar thing.

I have a retroveryed uterus. I had no idea it was supposed to move. It hasn't and I have 4 children!

@sprinkles1977 no I didn't know it could cause complications. I've had really bad SPD and PGP the last few days but not sure if it's worse with a retroverted uterus or not. I have scans and consultant appointments and midwife after Christmas so I will ask about the pelvis bit as that is freaking me out now and see if it causes anymore issues.

Hi OP - 1 in 5 women have a retroverted uterus. It’s normal and not associated with complications in pregnancy

RealMermaid · 23/12/2019 22:30

I have a retroverted uterus and no one has worried about it or checked on it. Pretty sure it has tipped into the right place by now (35 weeks) as I had an examination of my cervix the other day and I imagine the obstetrician would have mentioned if any problems, but I have no idea of when it moved!

I have a retroverted uterus and the only issues it caused every time was that internal checks can be a bit more uncomfortable as they have to reach that much higher. Even at 4cm dilated the midwife had a job to grab my cervix to break my waters. Managed it though! It's just a bit trickier.

My uterus is also retroverted as is my sisters. We have had six babies, one set twins with no complications. It’s a normal variation in uterus position that has no risk of complications anyway. It doesn’t affect labour or birth either.

I have this too. I was told it would move into position when baby gets bigger. I am 22 weeks and it hasnt been mentioned and tbh i am not worried. I only worry when the doctor tells me it is a problem so my advice is to relax. @Sprinkles1977 it ia still early days but if u are still worried speak to you midwife

Spacebowlisback · 24/12/2019 00:40

Yep. It’s been fine throughout all my pregnancies. They tip at different times. Some don’t at all. It’s fine. I did feel all my labours very much in my back (not convinced mine ever tipped fully) and it was worth baring in mind when positioning for labour.

ThighThighOfthigh · 24/12/2019 00:44

Me too and no complications. One thing i found is that i never had that baby dropped shape at the end. Don't know if it's related.

LuluJakey1 · 24/12/2019 00:47

I have one- hasn't caused any problems in 3 pregnancies.

Hi how did you get on I’m exactly the same as you had scan yesterday at 13 weeks + 4 days and was told it’s still retroverted now I’m panicking about the incarcerated uterus thing x

HerbaceousPerennial · 30/10/2024 19:12

@Bonbo no need to panic, I have a retroverted uterus and my midwife said it’s a normal variation, loads of women have it and don’t even know.

Mine in both pregnancies I've had was fine. My uterus went back down so quick the midwives were shocked but babies were all healthy.
