Did your morning sickness stop before 12 weeks?

I'm currently 9 weeks pregnant, my all day nausea started at 6 weeks, coupled with awful food aversions. I haven't actually been sick so far and after a pretty bad week last week I am now feeling far better.

My food aversions are still strong, but I can eat more of a variety now and the nausea, 'touch wood' is extremely mild now.

I feel like each passing day is better than the previous day. Did your morning sickness stop this early? In a previous pregnancy I had severe nausea and sickness right up until I miscarried at 15 weeks. So I've been really on edge waiting for the horrors to start.

I know it could come back with a vengance but the fact that I haven't physically been sick yet makes me hopeful that maybe I've escaped the worst this time?! What was your experience?

Hi OP, not sure how much help I’ll be. I’m now 9+5 and still struggling with nausea and sometimes vomiting. I had one week of intense sickness (vomiting all day everyday) between week 7 and 8, not i only vomit if I’ve eaten a meal rather than something small, so it is getting slightly better. Had a private scan today and everything was healthy and fine with baby. I think it should be easing off now but everyone is different

@OlivejuiceU2 Thank you! Sorry to hear you're still suffering, it's so awful isn't it Sad
With the nausea I literally can't do anything but sit still in bed and spend hours deciding what I can actually eat that day.

I think I'm just desperately hoping I've been lucky this time even though I know nobody can tell me whether or not it's gone for good haha

First pregnancy I had no nausea, just some food aversions during weeks 7 and 8. Second pregnancy nausea without vomiting from week 6 to 10 and then from 10 onwards less and less until now 12 when I have almost none FX

mywrencalls · 23/12/2019 17:09

@sassenach84 Thank you that gives me hope Smile
I feel like it's just too good to be true but I shall be keeping my fingers crossed!

Hello Op, in my first pregnancy I didn't have much sickness at all and sailed through the pregnancy. In the second I had nausea and food aversions until about 20 weeks although never actually being sick.
In my current pregnancy, I'm 9+2 today I have had quite bad nausea, horrible feeling in pit of stomach constantly. Just don't feel enthusiastic about eating at all and have gone off tea and coffee. Really crap for this time of year Sad

CatintheFireplace · 23/12/2019 17:46

I have no idea OP, I've only had one previous pregnancy which ended in MMC so I'm paranoid like you. With the MMC I didn't really notice anything at the time but looking back my food aversions disappeared (I really wanted coffee, which I couldn't even look at before). Of course I could be imagining the link, and I miscarried at about 11 weeks which is when morning sickness often improves anyway so who knows Confused

I just wanted to say that your description of the nausea I literally can't do anything but sit still in bed and spend hours deciding what I can actually eat that day made me feel so much better (sorry! I don't mean to be happy at your misery!). I've been exactly the same and feeling like I'm being totally pathetic... only actually puked once but been off work since last week and mainly just lying in bed thinking about what food I could possibly eat and then feeling even more ill if I even think about the wrong thing. It's shit isn't it?! You either feel sick as a dog or the crazy paranoia sets in Hmm

PotteringAlong · 23/12/2019 17:47

Nope, with all 3 of mine it carried on until I was induced at 42 weeks...!

elmosducks · 23/12/2019 18:12

Right until the end with all four of mine!

TettyBinkers · 23/12/2019 19:16

I'm currently 17 weeks and the sickness stopped for me between 9-10 weeks (which made me worry, but all was fine!) Still have some food aversions but was able to stomach more than I had been from about 10 weeks. I was never actually physically sick, just a lot of dry heaving and feeling awful!
I also spent all my spare time in bed sleeping or deciding what on earth to eat. I found I felt even more sick if I had an empty stomach.

sandytoes84 · 23/12/2019 21:32

Mine came and went - every time it went I panicked something was wrong and every time it came back I felt awful again! It had mostly stoped by about 11 weeks with a few moments of it up to about week 14.

Thanks everyone it's so interesting to read everyone's experiences. Today has been my best day so far, I don't think I've really had any nausea at all today. Still a slight yucky feeling but nothing noteworthy.

I noticed this evening that I felt a little hungry, and for the last 3 weeks whenever I've gotten hungry, the nausea hits really quick. But have been hungry for the last half hour without the nausea starting Smile

I’m also 9 weeks today and exactly the same as you! I had an early scan yesterday through window to the womb and everything looked good so I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about! Smile x

I had bad nausea for the first 6 weeks (it was what made me do a test, though to be fair DH already said he thought I was pregnant due to other reasons - it was a happy surprise for us in so far as we weren't actively trying after 2 previous miscarriages but not preventing pregnancy either).

Food aversions/craving kicked in very quickly but lasted throughout the pregnancy - I couldn't stand the smell or taste of coffee and tbh I've never recovered my liking for it. I craved cold milk to drink, green olives and tart apples despite never liking them before and still like them now!

Weeks 6 to 10 the sickness started to fade and finally stopped. Pregnancy was healthy and successful.

Previous miscarriages I'd had no nausea or food aversions/cravings whatsoever.

All that said you can see from pp's that everyone has different experiences (even different for each pregnancy) so I wouldn't concern yourself overly as to what "normal" is as long as you are managing to get good nutrition despite the nausea and understand that not being poorly isn't a bad sign.

mywrencalls · 24/12/2019 12:52

I'm feeling good again today so I'm starting to get my hopes up that maybe this time I have escaped the truly awful part of nausea and sickness. Not had to nap in a few days, and managing to get stuff done.

Loved reading your replies and glad to see it's not too unusual for the sickness to stop this early. I was just so terrified and anticipating an awful 12+ weeks! I sound like a baby but the nausea and sickness really was one of the most awful things I've ever endured Hmm

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, I'm 17 weeks and still have sickness and nausea some days. Not as bad as it was thankfully, I'm hoping it will be completely gone by 20 weeks!

I really feel for you, it's very frustrating too!
