Stress cause miscarriage?

Does stress cause a miscarriage?

Had small row with my hubby earlier and I got upset and he shouted a bit but we made up. I'm only 5 weeks and found out this week

I had a missed miscarriage in August with no symptoms and only picked up at scan so already a bit nervous and with my son I had no symptoms at all throughout the entire pregnancy

Would I be unlucky enough to have 2 missed miscarriages within the space of 6 months?

Really don’t get yourself upset, there’s no need. Technically, persistent, extremely high levels of cortisol (stress hormone) can lead to an increased risk of miscarriage but the day to day normal stresses that everyone experiences are not going to cause any problems. Nothing you can or cannot do will determine the outcome and you just have to wait and see and hope for the best.
I’m very sorry to hear of your previous miscarriage. Hopefully everything will be fine this time for you xx

Women fleeing warzones have babies. Prolonged extreme stress can increase the risk but not by much. It's easily said but try not to worry - it won't change anything.

Thanks all. I've also had a bit of back ache this eve but not lower back it's more middle. Is that ok in preg, not a bad sign?

Aches & pains are all perfectly normal in pregnancy. In the first & second trimesters I get round ligament pain in my groin area that literally makes me stop what I’m doing it’s so painful. It passes quickly but ouch!

Generally, so long as you aren’t bleeding severely or in agony, it’s nothing to worry about.

Stress is extremely unlikely to cause miscarriage. Unless it’s an extreme, prolonged amount. An argument or a stressful day at work is perfectly normal & won’t do baby any harm!
