Shouldn't have googled - transverse at 41 weeks

So, currently 41+2 today and booked for induction tomorrow. Saw MW yesterday and had a second sweep, after last weeks didn't do anything, and thought I'd have a look at my online notes. I ended up at triage on Tuesday due to rfm and everything was fine but I had a senior mw check me after the first one due to babies positioning. Looking at my notes it now seems like baby has moved from longitudal lie 4/5 engaged to transverse 3/5 engaged...

And I googled. I really shouldn't have as now a little concerned. Not sure on what I'm asking here but has anyone had similar and how did your labour go? Was really preferring not to have a c-section.

TIA :)

Oh, I should add that none of the MWs I saw said anything that concerned me - so maybe I should just not panic!

Don't confuse it with transverse position with transverse presentation.
Transverse position is where baby presents with its head but is facing sideways and the other is where baby is lying across your tummy horizontally and can't be delivered vaginally. They would not have done at sweep if this was the case.

I’m no medical expert but the fact your notes say the baby is still 3/5 engaged and you have been allowed home suggests to me that you don’t have a baby in the full transverse position.
My DC2 was found to be transverse at 39+6 and I wasn’t allowed home from that moment on in case my waters broke first and the cord was crushed or prolapsed. Obviously you should ask and follow all advice you are given by your midwives but I think it may not be as worrying as the information you have found on google. Good luck with your baby Smile

If baby was fully transverse at 41 weeks I don't think they'd have let you go home to be honest. Sounds as though baby's head is engaged but if you are at all worried then call, much better than stressing at home.

Also don't be too anxious about the prospect of a section. I've had 2 and they really weren't that bad! To be honest, I thought my elective was fantastic!

Ahh thank you all for your replies, that actually makes sense and will explain why they didn't seem concerned at all! Head is definitely down and in my pelvis, he must just be in an odd angle. Thank you!

A transverse lie wouldn’t be engaged at all! It just means the baby is head down and facing sideways, nothing to worry about.
