Hi all,

Just my luck I was admitted last night with very high blood pressure and protein in urine very high and severe three day headache. I’m exactly 26 weeks and they said it’s early for me to get it! They diagnosed pre emclampsia.

Headache gone.. blood pressure come down with blood pressure meds (but still not normal) so they are trying to get the meds right

Had my scan she’s ok on my growth chart weighs 1 pound 13 ounces which is within my lines

They havnt said much just having BP monitored and heart scan tomorrow just in case that can explain my high BP

any experiences? I don’t think it sounds too severe but I don’t know? What will happen will they let me go home once BP down?

Just looking for some positive vibes and advice etc as don’t feel
I’m getting much here.

Thanks ladies, just want my little girl to be ok xxx

I developed it at 28 weeks and was in hospital for 7 weeks before dd was born. It was a lovely rest, because I felt fine.
My dd was born at 35+5, 4lb 2oz and had 10 days in nicu, but she is absolutely fine.
Hopefully they will be able to keep your bp under control and baby in for a good long time yet.

They usually keep you in hospital with preeclampsia as it's unpredictable and really dangerous. They have to test your bloods daily to see if it's severe or not. It's not to early, you can have preeclampsia as early as 20 weeks. I had severe preeclampsia at 31 and half weeks, was super swelled, headaches weren't super bad, was usually vomiting after eating. My bloods were coming worse each day and I started to have an odd feeling that I was going to die. Delivery by emergency C-section at 32 weeks.

Pre-e diagnosed at 34w, spent 2w in the hospital then re-admited at 37+5 and had an emergency c-section because it got very bad within 24h. Baby was fine though a bit on the small side (5.7), I had to stay in ICU for 48h.

Had swelling (severe), BP 160/120 at worst and ++ protein in urine. Initially they managed to get BP under control with meds and diet (no salt whatsoever, diabetic hyper-protein diet) but probably better if they kept me in the hospital as it was much more difficult to manage BP/diet at home. Hang in there and please don't object if they decide to keep you in - its for the best for both you and the baby!

Thanks ladies, they are talking about discharging me tomorrow or day after. BP now ok with this medication, baby movements fine and size is OK.Really ok discharging me? I have no swelling headache gone. I just feel really anxious and nervous I just want my baby to be ok I’m only early! Sad I’m literally freaking out

If they're discharging you it's that they probably didn't find much of protein in blood, and other values they look for.

Good your BP is down with meds.

One of the urine protein tests was sky high 100+ meant to be about 14, very confused :(

I had pre-eclampsia from week 28 in my middle pregnancy and was also let home once they got my levels to where they were happy with- different hospitals and different doctors have different rules about it all. Some would let me go home with 3+ protein, some would keep me in for 2+. I had a number of overnights as a result in the run up to my 36 week delivery. Ask qs- about hw they plan to monitor you, what you should look out for. All the best OP ❤️ It’s so great they’ve got things under control and there’s no reason to assume delivery is imminent although I fully understand the worry Flowers

Nighttimenope · 19/12/2019 23:05

The 3+ and 2+ I mentioned there are a different way of measuring the protein to what you’ve referenced. Don’t be alarmed- note down everything that’s confusing or worrying you (maybe on your phone) and get it all out when doc comes round in the morning Smile
