Retroverted Uterus, Endometriosis and 13 weeks pregnant

I was wondering if anyone can help or had the same experience:

I had my dating scan on monday and they told me that I have a fully retroverted uterus. I wasnt born with this, the endometriosis has caused it to tilt so my fear is it is now anchored in place so wont shift forward as it is supposed to. I have read that it should have moved into the correct position but 12 weeks and it was still fully retroverted on Monday.

I have had some horrible pain in my groin, pelvis and hips in the last few weeks and I dont know of that is because of the endo or of it is just normal pain.

I have been reading that if the uterus doesnt move it can cause something called and incarcerated uterus which could result in a miscarriage if it isnt corrected early enough so I am terrified that is going to happen.

Does anyone else suffer from endo with a retroverted uterus? What point did your uterus move?

Did anyone suffer horrible sharp pains in their hips, pelvis and groin? Is this normal?

First pregnancy so I have no clue what to expect!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Sprinkles1977, I'm afraid I'm no use as I have no idea but just bumping for you in the hope that someone with more knowledge comes along. Good luck!

I also had a fully retroverted uterus and was worried about it becoming an incarcerated uterus. Mine did not move forward at 12 weeks but did move somewhere between 16 and 20 weeks. My consultant said incarcerated uteruses are incredibly rare. In over 20 years she had never seen one and had many patients with retroverted uteruses. I remember the feeling of panic that it would be me and asking about manual manipulation of the baby but the consultant said there would be far more risks and to wait for it to move forward as the baby develops which is what happened.

I don’t have endometriosis but have quite a retroverted uterus. Mine was still retroverted at 12 week scan- had to have an internal to allow them to get the neck measurement accurately. I had problems with not being able to wee due to the way my uterus was sat on my bladder/ tubes up until about 16-18 weeks (can’t remember exactly!) like one day I had drank nearly 2 litres of water and hadn’t been able to wee for over 5 hours despite being in agony wanting to. Finally managed to in the weirdest position. Couldn’t say for definate when it tipped forward but now at 28 weeks it most definately has!!

Oh and meant to say pain in hips, pelvis and groin may well be the start of SPD/ PGP- speak to your midwife as soon as you can because if it is the earlier they refer you for physio the better

@Sprinkles1977 can I ask how it all went? I also have endo, hip leg and groin pain and refrigerated uterus. Also had 3 csections already so full of adhesions. I’m only 4 weeks but dreading what could happen. Did all go ok for you? Xx

I have the same OP and it moved about 16 ish weeks or so; also as a PP I needed to manoeuvre myself into a bit of an odd position to go to the loo but all fine now.

@TheGlitterFairy thanks for this, never had issues in my previous pregnancies but I’m really struggling with my bowels and passing wind this time 😢

I have retroverted uterus caused by endometriosis. It was right back at 6 weeks and still far back at 10 weeks but had started to come forward by 12 weeks. However the consultant said most don't move forward till 16 weeks. Incarcerated uterus is very rare.

I have a retroverted uterus which has got worse with each pregnancy. I do not have endo though so mine moves forward around 12weeks and causes no issues.

Have they offered you extra scans to check how the uterus is moving as baby grows? If not I would ask them if that is a possibility for you or you could get private scans to check.
