Can I ask to be induced due to these circumstances?

Hi I'm now 37 weeks I have precipate labour so I don't get any warning I'm really going in to labour, my first was 45 minutes and the only signal I got was period pain, a few big contractions then baby here, my second was 15 minutes had no pain at all two big contractions urge to push he was born! At 38 weeks. I'm now due my third on the 8th of January.

However this time I'm nervous about the labour I've been taught how to deliver a baby incase it happens indoors, it was only by luck I was in the hospital last time that they was hospital born. I just really would like to be induced as I know then I'm safe and not just going to be out on the school run or home alone with the two kids I have now!.

I also have had four episodes now of reduced movements but seems ok at the moment. Just really keen to avoid randomly going in to labour outside or when my partners at work Shock
Also keen to avoid another 38 week delivery as that's Christmas Day.

I would request for a Dr in the maternity assessment unit to assess your Bishops score. I remember I had a favourable Bishops score a week or so before I was due and the Dr offered to induce me for pretty much no reason at all. I was fine and the pregnancy was fine. I'd had heavy bleeding which panicked everyone for a while but it turned out to be the bloody show. I declined as I wanted to give birth in the birth centre and had a sweep instead.

If your Bishops score was high, I'd think you would have a good argument for an induction.

Four episodes of DFM combined with the precipitate labour would probably qualify you for induction but possibly not until 38 weeks.

What has your community midwife said?

Gosh certainly not unreasonable to ask . No idea of the answer but I wouldn’t want to be on my own in your situation

Hi thanks for the replies midwife hasn't mentioned anything just taught me what to do incase it does happen indoors but speaking to the health visitor today she said I'd make a good case to ask. Never heard of the bishops score before so will ask about that Smile
