So, 15 years on I think I'll try for another one! This is a pretty big gap - anyone else got a big gap?

DH had DSS in his early 20s and we now have DD who is 16 months. He has found it hard work in that a lot of processes and guidelines have changed so I think he thought he knew it all having done it before but quickly realised he didn't. Life has changed a lot for DSS as now there is a lot more sharing and compromise (no shouting at the xbox or loud swearing for example) but him and DD have a lovely relationship. I'd go for it. Why not!

DSD is sixteen and DS six months, it's honestly adorable the way they get on, especially now hes a bit more together and she's confident about picking him up and carting him about the house. Often under one arm, slightly upside down. Shock

If she comes in the door without coming to say hello to him first thing all hell breaks loose, mind you.

I have a 17 year gap and it's nice.
It does feel like starting all over again but in a good way.
I wish I had of done it earlier so my eldest didnt grow up alone but she was happy enough and doted on her little sister now and now I have decided to have another one lol as o have enjoyed it xx
Good luck dont let the age gap put you off xx

I am 8 weeks pregnant, my first and only child is 20 years old Shock I'm terrified!

Amrythings · 17/12/2019 14:30

I would say though, you don't get the same child twice, and DH genuinely doesn't know what's hit him - DSD by all accounts was an incredibly chill, quiet and shy baby. DS is absolutely unstoppable, into everything, and known as the smiley baby at the shop.

ipodtherforipoor · 17/12/2019 19:31

I'm definitely not too worried about that gap now! DS was being cute in town when he saw some tiny babies and a cute toddler...he used to ask strangers to marry me so he could have a sister - thankfully he outgrew that habit and let me pick my own husband!

I have an 18 year old and a 1 year old, currently 25 weeks pregnant with number 3

buddhababy2019 · 17/12/2019 22:43

I'll have 12 years between my two when this one is born x

lifeisgoodagain · 17/12/2019 22:53

My kids are adults, I wouldn't mind another but I'm being sensible

This pregnancy was a surprise and I was worried the age cap was to big my oldest is 16 and youngest will be 14 but I've spoke to others who have big age caps and tell me how nice it is to have older children as they enjoy interacting more with the baby etc

essexanon · 19/12/2019 22:46

Dont worry, my mum had me at 40.
I’m the baby.
14 years between me and my sister and 12 years between me and my brother.

BUT my partners dad, just had his 2nd child. My partner was his first and is 30!
So there is a 30 year age gap between my partner has his sister!
His dads new wife is pretty young so we guessed it would happen.
