To have a gender scan or not?

I'm currently 14+3 with my 2nd baby and am considering a private gender scan at 16-17 weeks but wonder if it's worth it?
We have a 20 week scan booked at the end of January. I thought it would be nice to bring our 3 year old daughter with us to see the baby and find out the gender together. We aren't bringing her to the NHS one as she's at nursery but thought it would be a more relaxed atmosphere to bring her to a private one.
I would also like to be more certain of the gender this time for practical reasons and I'm sure private scans spend more time on the gender as I totally get the 20 week scan is to check for abnormalities.
Any thoughts? They are about £60-£70 but would like to know if it's worth it! Thanks! X

I had a gender scan with this one at 14 weeks as I'm impatient but I still waited till my 20wk scan when they confirmed the sex for us before I bought anything. If you can afford it then I say go ahead :)

Go for it! Your other child won't be allowed into the NHS scan room anyway and it'll be lovely for you to do as a family if you can afford to :)

We did. My 4 year old daughter was so excited, the sonographer put the heart beat to listen too. They are not (at least here) allowed to attend NHS scans, so it was lovely to include her in this one.

Totally up to you! We didn’t first time, we waited until the 20 week scan. But I was more impatient this time & we did have one.. it was really nice to take our daughter, she was very curious about the whole thing for roughly 5 minutes & then did some colouring 😂

Children aren’t allowed into NHS scans so you wouldn’t be able to take her anyway!

It has def been easier to explain to our daughter that we are having baby sister and get her used to the idea & babies name!

We really liked ours - not just to find out the sex but it's a different scan experience to the NHS.
