Waters breaking

Hi, can I just ask for people's experience? My first 2 were induced (both late) and so my waters were broken artificially. My question is how do I know if its my waters breaking and not just incontinence?

My first pregnancy I think they went while I was in the shower but never noticed. Didn't even realise they had gone until the midwife examined me and told me they had.
Second pregnancy, waters burst while I was in the hospital, very soon before I gave birth.

Put a pad on. If it fills in an hour then it's likely to be your waters. If it smells sweet and not like urine then it's likely to be waters. If you're not sure at all, phone your midwife and see what she says. Tests can be done at hospital if all else fails

I had several moments of, did I pee or was that my waters? Embarrassingly enough I went to maternity unit and it would seem I had just peed a little.

My waters went for me early in labour whilst I was in the bath. And they then continued to trickle with slight gushes for about 2 hours after. You can't stop it. It just happens. That's how I knew.

I was sitting on the sofa and heard and felt a loud pop and they just whooshed out of me. I was wearing a long dress so gathered it around me before they went far and legged it to the loo and it just kept coming. It smells slightly sweet, a bit like sperm, and couldn’t have been confused for wee. It was so loud DH nearly jumped off the sofa as I did Grin

With my first I felt a sort of pop-pop inside and then had an almighty gush. There was absolutely no mistaking it for anything else. It was proper soap-stylee “that never happens in real life” type waters going. Grin

With my second I hadn’t even noticed they’d gone by the time I got to hospital.

Depends, what stage of pregnancy are you at?

I’ve had my waters break before labour began as the first sign of labour, late on in labour when I was pushing a baby out, and before viability in the second trimester. All very different, so it isn’t a one size fits all answer.

Mine always broke with a big gush. With my 4th I had polyhydramnios so waters went with an even bigger gush than usual.

With Dd2 my water's broke outside my mum's care home. They just kept coming. DH and my sister were with me, they both stood in shock although I do remember DH making a comment about his trainers getting wet😆.
Dd2 arrived 40mins later having just made it to hospital.

It was quite an obvious waterfall of fluid all over my kitchen floor!!

I think it's different for everyone but if you are in doubt and think they have gone or leaking put on a pad as pp has said and phone hospital they will check it for you.
With my first they went with a pop I was already in labour in hospital and thought my son was coming out nope it was just waters was a massive amount of pressure then the bed was drenched.
I don't even remember my waters going with my 2nd they didn't go before labour but I think they slowly went whilst I was in labour in hospital x

With my first I woke up in middle of night with a tight feeling a l thought I needed to wee.as I tried to stand up I felt a big pop and waters just gushed out. I wasn't sure what it was so googled "have my waters broke or have I wet myself?"
