Hi all,

Yesterday I was horrendously sick and non-stop vomiting - expected Norovirus as I’m a nurse and lots of patients and staff currently have it but bought a pregnancy test on the off-chance. Which was positive!!! And according to NHS pregnancy calculator I’m 4 weeks. I felt dreadful yesterday and also have a temperature which isn’t helping. I only managed to keep down 2 oranges, one biscuit and half an apple. Most of the water I had came back up also Sad. I haven’t yet worked up the nerve to get out of bed today although have been awake for an hour! (Although I feel much better)

Over the weekend we’re supposed to be flying out to Spain. The trip is a birthday present from me to DH and he has said we’ll cancel but it’s non-refundable and I really want to go. I was just hoping anyone had any tips on managing nausea?? We’re in an Airbnb whilst there which will be good for privacy and to relax if I’m not feeling up for the activities planned. But although it’s only short, I’m worried about the flight in particular. I know there’s no magic cure but hoping there’s some tips to control it a bit better than I managed leaning over the toilet 99% of yesterdayGrin

Sea bands help a little. Ginger biscuits or boiled sweets help a little. Peppermint or chewing gum help a little. Eating little and often also helps. Congratulations :)

Could you get an emergency appointment with you GP today and get prescribed some anti nausea medication?

Ginger chews really help me a lot (from Holland and Barrett). But I only have pregnancy nausea, am very rarely actually sick, so yours sounds worse.

Travel sickness bands and tablets from the drs. I also found sweets helped a lot like spearmint polos and those fruit travel sweets.
I had horrendous sickness from 5 weeks to 20 weeks and flew out on holiday at 15 weeks. The above didn't really make a huge difference but it was better than nothing and I survived without being poorly on the plane. Was so worried about the flight but managed to hold it together. I bought some of my own sick bags on eBay that were sealable and non leaking as I don't like the paper ones the plan provide and I was worried about filling them up!

If you're only 4 weeks it's likely to be a vomiting bug rather than related to pregnancy, so I would be wary about flying and spreading it.

See how you go over the next few days, if it eases then you'll know it was just a bug and you should find you feel better.

Hope so, be lovely for you and DH to have a little break whilst your exciting news sinks in!
